I didn't get a letter yet, but Lexsmom posted on the PIR 2/11/11 group that she did.  Her daughter is also in SHIP 09/DIV 067 and her letter also said PIR date is 2/11/11.  Congratulations on getting your letter....another milestone.  Maybe I'll get the letter tomorrow.

Well I am dying to hear if you got a letter today. I would expect you to receive one any day now. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to the way things roll out of Great Lakes. I have been praying for you and your recruit. Keep me posted!

oops sorry

It's easy to do this time of year with the year changing.

So glad to hear you got the letter! I know you feel better now!

have you booked your hotel yet? I have been checking out the local hotels, but have yet to book... we are 7 hours south of Great Lakes, will be driving in the day before. We want a big enough room to be comfy for the days ahead relaxing with our sailor. Any thoughts on this? Are you able to attend the PIR? /Would love to attend the meet and greet the night before..Just curious on your thoughts. mary

Hello....sorry went out with my younger daughter and tried to get some Christmas shopping done.  Getting the letter gave me enough energy to face the holiday crowds.  We had a good time.  Still something seems to be missing.  I have not booked a hotel yet, but definitley plan to do so within the week.  I'm a bit confused about where to stay.  How about you?  I agree, we also feel we want a room that we can hang out comfortably with our Sailor.  Also definitley want to attend the meet and greet.

We stayed at Navy Lodge when my son-in-Law graduated last year from boot camp. We enjoyed our stay there and it even has a little kitchen in each room which came in very handy. I think we may try them again.

where is Navy Lodge? is it associated with the navy or...?

NAvy Lodge is a few blocks from the base. It is run by the Navy Exchange. The rates were pretty reasonable.

Thanks for the info. about the Navy Lodge. There seems to be plenty of places to choose from in the Great Lakes area. The hotels probably fill up pretty fast. What is really nice is the hotels are accustomed to the PIRs so I am sure they will be helpful during our stay there.

My son is Ship 09 Div 069 but I have not yet received the letter on PIR. My coworker's daughter is ship 09 Div 068, so I'm guessing we're looking at 2/11 or later.
