Any one with loved ones in this division yet? My daughter left Dec 12th. I haven't received a letter yet from her, but I was able to get the Information from the recruiter.

My son is in this division as well (left 12/12), I got the form letter on Christmas eve with a short note on the back saying all was well but they hadn't even started PT yet. It was great to see the picture as well!

Got my letter today !! WOOHOOOOOOOOO !!!!!. She sounds very up beat, is asking for pictures of her horse and stamps. lol

Wooohoooo. Congrats. Was it the form letter or are real letter going to arriving soon? Let me know if you got the info you needed

It was the form letter, but she wrote on the back, all the stuff she wanted me to send (sounds just like her) lol. I'm sure we'll start getting letters soon.

We just got our letter today. We also live in SoCal. The letter was sent Dec 20, but just arrived today. Ship 03 Division 071.

hi I'm glad you got your letter. wasn't that hard to wait, especially when you see everyone else getting theirs. Where in SoCal do you live (area). I live in south-west riverside county. Once our daughter decided to enlist we took her and one of her girl friends to the Midway in San Diego. We wanted to get a chance to get an idea of what it looked like to be on a ship. We had so much fun that day.

Tucker2,

It was painful to run to the mailbox and find nothing. He wrote a few lines to say everything is fine.

We live in the high desert area and have horses also. My husband and I will take Amtrak to Chicago to relax and rent a car to drive to Great Lakes to attend PIR.

WOW, I didn't think about a train. How long will it take you to get there and how much? My husband and I are now thinking about that instead of flying.

The time from the station in Victorville is 41 hours. We reserved a sleeping room so the cost is higher than a standard coach seat. Round trip, 2 adults, all meals included is $1200. It is certainly not for everyone, but we enjoy the scenery and downtime.

I would love to take the train but it's just not in the budget with time or money. :(

That was a good idea to tour the ships. We didn't think of that. I did that on my own in my younger days.
We kept joking with our son before he left that he's constantly going to be bashing his head & shoulders on a ship. I keep thinking we should be getting a letter any time now. Its driving me nuts one hasn't arrived yet. I sent paper and stamped envelopes in the first letter I wrote.
So. Cal is far. Are you guys going to PIR?

It was funny watching the girls go through the ship, both of them are about 5'10". When they got into the racks they had to bend their knees. We jokes with then that the only time they would be able to stretch out is if they slept on the floor. :) I'm hopping we get a letter by next week, I know they can only send out on Sunday and of course it gets posted on Monday. We are going to the PIR, I already have the hotel reservation, we're also going to the "Sarge Meet and Greet" on Thursday night.
