Hello Everyone!

Ok so I have decided to make a quilt for my husband. This will be my secound quilt that I have made.

My first quilt is a 5'x5' and I just used the 9 sqaure pattern. My mom helped me draw it up and so I never followed a pattern from a book before.

I want this new quilt that I am making to be a good fit for where ever he ends up, like on a ship, or in school, ext. so not too big. I was reading somewhere that a full size is a good size? Any ideas on what the size should be? Also does anyone have any ideas on what fabric to use? I was THINKING about doing an all flannel quilt this time.... any ideas on that? Also does anyone have any ideas on a pattern? Any ideas would really be great!

Thank you!

Make sure it is warm...but also thin in case he has to put it away each day.  While in school he won't be able to leave it out and there is limited space.  Some ships allow personnel blankets some don't...that is why I say it should be a thin, warm matterial.

Recommend you NOT do an Anchor..as an Anchor is worn by Chief's and if he is allowed to keep the blanket out he will take lots of s@#$ for having that on the blanket.

Check out the grups there is one for quilters and they may be able to help you more. A flannel backing sounds good to me and maybe some of the thinsulate for filler.  Good Luck.

Ok then definately no anchor, thanks!

And thank you for the group idea! I will look for it.

There is some great navy print fabric out there. I have even seen some blue cami not quite like their uniforms. Get the thinner more durable batting to put in it. Good luck with your project.
