Hi this is allie my SR graduates Feb. 3rd....can't wait we have had 2 phone calls and lots of letters he is doing great! hope to get another letter tomorrow......he sounds happy said he is having fun!
We received another letter and phone call...all seems fine with my son as well. He is making a lot of friends which is encouraging. He seems like he is doing great. I heard there is a big physical test this Friday....we are looking forward to graduation...just booked our hotel and flight. The time is passing more quickly. The first week was the worst. Is anyone doing the meet and greet at Sarge's?
I've briefly considered the meet and greet but I've never gotten to spend time in Chicago, only passed through several times, so I'm sort of thinking about tearing up the town if I can remember how. lol
Thinking we will be at the meet and greet at Sarge's.
Going to start looking into Flights and Hotels for my husband and SR's Older brother who plan on going.
Weather is my biggest concern. Just hope that snow/storms don't get in the way. February up there can be so iffy.
Have had several letters and getting some great insight. Christmas Day meal was pretty good and include Prime Rib and Roast Turkey. He mentioned getting a five minute shower (!) versus the 30 second one! HA! Says his RDC's are "pretty cool" and the big PT test was coming up. Also, he can now make a bed (I tried forever and the navy taught him in a couple of weeks!) AND shine shoes. Also, Dress whites are cool.
All in all my SR sounded good and I feel he is doing well. Very proud of him...as I know we all are of our SR's.
As far as Meet and Greet...not sure what my Husband will do. I'm going to have it all laid out for him. Whether he "follows" my directions is another thing;)

This is a great link. Lots of BC info and PIR/Grad info. Very helpful.
I set up Flight, Hotel and Rental car yesterday! Had fun doing it too! Lots to research and compare but DONE!
My husband will more than likely be using the train to go back and forth into Chicago with our SR and his brother on
Saturday/Sunday if they choose to do that.
Not sure if hubby will be wearing a scarf, but certainly will be wearing a red shirt!
Just received another letter....everything has been so positive. They are learning to clean, shower quickly, make their beds correctly, laundry, etc. Everything is about the details he states. He says that all SR's LOVE mail time so keep writing! He says he has made some really good friends - maybe some of these are your sons! I wish I knew how he did on the big PT test today. I saw something about wearing the color red?? What is that all about?
I got another letter today. this one was very short but he said he didn't have much time to write. he told me not to worry. lol
I was thinking about what we're going to do in chicago during liberty and after some researching I"m thinking about taking my SR to the skydeck and getting tickets for the trolley tour. check it out. it looks fun.

Looks cool! One time on a visit to Boston, I bought a tour ticket and the on/off feature was great. We could just sit and chill while the city went by! If we saw something interesting which took our fancy, we hopped off and caught another bus later! Great idea!
Got a letter last Saturday. Had some funny stuff in it! They had Chocolate Milk on Christmas day and my SR, (who is not a real Chocolate nut) was Thrilled!!! This latest letter, Dated January 1st, informed us that there was No Chocolate Milk that morning. He was thinking it was a Holiday thing so was pretty disappointed! The other thing he mentioned was how the little things can really make your day....He found a rubber band on the floor and thought this was GREAT! Wrapped his "pens and sharpies" up and was very pleased! Who'd a figured a runner band would make our kids so happy!?
No word since. I think they are headed into Week 5-1. Has anyone else got a better date? I've been going on what my SR said back in week 3. I know MLK Day is a honda and will not count toward their "days".
