We went to the airport with our son when he flew to boot camp. If you take his orders to the ticket counter they approved two of us to go back with him, we showed id and they gave us a pass to get through security and sit at his gate with him....it was very easy.

Joemama, Just saw your post. We are from Carrollton - right down the road from you!

Hey...Are y'all flying or driving to PIR?

Plan A is to drive but if the weather seems too bad to make we will either fly or take the train.

I'm flying. I know I won't be able to make that drive to Chicago.

We live in Columbus, GA and my son is now in this Division.  He was supposed to graduate on the 13th, but has been sick this week with a flu bug, so he missed some training...his PIR got pushed back a week, so he will be graduating on the 20th.  I'm glad to join this group.  Guess I have a lot to catch up on since I'm late joining.

I am so sorry to hear you SR was pushed back :( I hope he is doing well and they have welcomed him okay. If you are on facebook here is a link to another group we have going on. https://www.facebook.com/groups/242396232495292/

He said he is doing better and the new division is good.  He didn't get in the group picture because he had already had his picture taken with his original division.  He ordered a DVD of the graduation, so I hope he can still get a DVD of the graduation on the 20th.  I am going to check out the facebook page shortly.  Thank you so much for that information and for the welcoming remarks.

Welcome to the January 20th group!  Did you have any problems changing your travel plans?  We're flying out of ATL on the 19th and I've prayed nothing changes our plans because the refundable tickets were just too expensive for the four of us.

Thank you so much for the welcome.  I only had hotel dates to change; we are planning on driving up there, so I had not made airline reservations yet..thanks goodness for that because the refundable ones are too expensive.  Originally it was going to be four of us (acutally five because my 10 month old granddaughter was going), but now it is just my husband and I.  The girls (one of which is my SR's twin sister) are not going to be able to attend his graduation because they start back to college tomorrow and they don't need to miss any classes.  That's why he ordered the DVD.  Maybe he will be able to skype with them when he gets liberty and we can go back to our hotel.  I miss him so very much and can't wait to see him.  I did manage to find (by total accident) a video of him made on Christmas Day.  His unit was adopted by the First Baptist Church in Hammond, IN and someone taped him playing the piano.  I just found early this mornng and it just made my day. Looking forward to meeting the parents of the new division.  Where are yall staying?

Welcome Brett's Mom....I am so sorry your son got pushed back a week.  My son was suppose to PIR on Jan 6th and was pushed back two weeks so now he is in this great division with a PIR of the 20th.  It is so hard to watch them get delayed, especially after all the hard work they put in.  I'm so glad you had not purchased your tickets, it gets expensive having to change dates.  It sounds like your son is doing better and I know that is a relief for you.  We are flying in on the 19th and staying at the Spring Hill Suites Marriott.  Where are you staying?

We are staying at the Courtyard by Marriott.  We are leaving on the 18th because we are driving.  I am not looking forward to that long trip, but that is the best alternative right now.  I want to be able to spend time with my son at the airport Saturday and he does not know what time he is flying out, so if we drive we won't have to worry about it.  Then, we are planning on coming back thru Bowling Green, KY to go to the Corvette museum and factory.
