For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

While I am sad to see him go, I am very proud of his decision. I would like to meet other moms whose child or children have left for bootcamp at hte same time.

Hi James' Mom, glad you found it!! Now I am frantic about finding out his ship/div. I am sunk if I have to rely on his recruiter!!!! But that is a discussion for AFTER PIR!

OMG, tell me about it! I'll give it a week, and then his recruiter will wish I would go away. I actually really liked him, but well, as you said, that's a discussion for AFTER. I wonder how the boys are holding up, still being awake? I've been wondering about them all day. James' Sr. Chief was in the office and kept warning them about being awake for 36-48 hours. I bet they'll want to sleep something awful!

I've been thinking of them with no sleep all day as well. But our boys should be on day P-2, I hope. I am still trying to figure out the whole schedule thing. Thank God for this site, or I would be an even bigger mess than I already am.

Our SRs should finally be getting some sleep now. I know my son didn't sleep well at MEPS the night before (Monday), and was up at 4:30AM Tuesday morning. He had told me at one point, while waiting at the airport that he was doing a lot of meditating, something he learned from his favorite teacher. He did some tae-kwon-do (?spelling), and he said it was keeping him from being antsy waiting, as well as helping him relax, without sleeping. Now I'm hoping he did a lot of it. Today was much better, but I feel like I need one good cry before returning to work on Friday. I plan to keep busy tomorrow during the day, but my daughter and I are scheduling a good cry tomorrow night. I feel like I just keep trying to hold it together, and that is making me even more on the verge of tears.

Oh my goodness, that makes me feel worlds better. Just knowing that they're finally resting will help me rest easier. I went back to work today, and it helped most of the time but when I came home, it hit me all over again. It has just got to get better. Right? :)

How's everyone doing today? Better day? So far, so good for me. I got home from work, asked my husband how he was doing (that's James' step-dad) and he said he was never prouder of "his" son. He had wondered all day about how James was doing, if he'd eaten, when he'd finally get some sleep, and that he couldn't wait to see him again at PIR. Then I lost it. They've always had a good relationship (we've been together nearly 9 years now) but this was the icing on the cake for me.

Congratulations to brigittej on getting her box today!!! Another milestone :) I still have heard nothing from the recruiter about ship/division. Not sure if any of you were aware, but there is a facebook page for the RTC. They have contests, and the prizes are photos of your SRs ship/division. Something to look forward to!! On the other hand, I found it last night at about 12:30am, when I was trying to figure out what happened yesterday. So another very late night for me last night.What a crazy roller coaster of emotions and it's only day 3. I am so sad for the family, but so relieved it wasn't mine !! Selfish, I know. Had to convince 16 year old daughter that we cannot hope he will be sent home, because that is too selfish. I know she just misses her big brother awful!!

Got an email from the recruiter, stating he will forward info to me when he gets it, but that he has nothing yet. Ugh!!! So frustrating.

it took about a week for my sons recruiter to get the address. just be patient (easier said then done). They don't get mail right away anyway, keep writing and then mail them all when you do get the address. They have to train someone to do the mail thats why they don't get mail - and won't get it until they have someone trained.

Got my box today from fed ex. Everything in there, including contract, boarding pass and iPod, but not the cell phone. So why would the cell phone not come back, and should I cancel service? Would they throw it away? Why would they throw it away, or take it, or whatever?? Ugh!! I'm glad I got my box, but now I have something else to worry about!! Still nothing from the recruiter about his ship/division.

Just joined the Boot Camp Mom's and saw your discussion. My son left out Jan 9th from Dallas. I am like you are sad to see him go but I am so very proud of him and what he is doing! Have you received any information yet? If I don't get the letter today I will probably try to get a hold of his recruiter and see if he knows anything yet. The suspense is killing me! lol
