While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Bootcamp
My son left for bootcamp on Wednesday and I've been crying off and on ever since. I feel so lost not beling able to call him, FB him or contact hm in any way. I never thought it would be this difficult. I'm really struggling. I'm not worried about his safety, just feel so disconnected, like he's gone forever. He is my firstborn too, maybe that's it? I don't know, but he reached this milestone that I feel like I wasn't prepared for. Anyone else feel like that?

My son left December 13th and I finally received a phone call last night. But I missed it. I was so upset. I always have my cell phone with me so this would not happen. The one time I did not have my phone with me he called. I cried for a little bit. I was really looking foward to talking to him. He did leave a short message. It sounded like he was doing really good. It is going to take me a couple days to get over missing his call!

oh bless your heart. I bet it did help getting to hear his voice though! I have been treating my cell phone like a part of my body and I know for sure that I will not get a call for at least 2 more weeks or more. I don't think I will be getting a box. He was going to tell them to throw his stuff away or donate to charity. I don't want a box, I know I will cry again!! If I could just get a letter from him telling me things were good, I would feel much better. Prayers for all you moms that are going through this same thing. I feel guilty sometimes for being sad, because I know I will see him again and there are some parents that won't get that luxury, but I can't help but miss him. I had him for 22 years after all.....

Kendalls mom my son left Dec 13th also. What division is your son in? My son graduates Feb 17.

My son called wednesday night. He said that it was a mandatory call and they should have another in 2 weeks.

My daughter left for GL on 1/3, she called at about 11:00 PM to let me know she arrived safely, and that I would get "the box" in two weeks. Well, Friday night I went home to find "the box" on my front porch already! I have been in Grand Jury duty for two weeks, and I'm there the rest of the month. I keep hoping she does not call me while I'm in court, we have to have our phones off. I would feel TERRIBLE if I missed her call! If you haven't done so already, call their recruiter to get their address. The recruiters have them now. I sent my first two letters out already, so she'll have some mail from home in a couple of days. I read they can get photos, but to keep them wallet sized, so I sent a picture of her kitty, dog, and myself.
Does anyone know if boot camp graduation is true to the date they give you? I'm trying to book a vacation, and fly right out from Great Lakes, but it worries me they'll change things at the last minute. Also, if they are going to San Antonio for A School, what day do they normally fly out?
Has anyone's sailor had to have their wisdom teeth out while at boot camp? When my daughter called to let me know she got there, she also advised me she had to have her wisdom teeth out!

Yes the date is spot one. The only thing that can change it would be a medical problem, injury, or failing a test.
Pulling wisdom teeth is very common up there. They give them meds and take it easy a couple days.
Sailor will leave Boot Friday or Saturday. Only they can give you the travel plans.
Be careful with the address that you get other then on your form letter. recruiter dont alays have the correct one. They are sometimes only temporary. SR's gets moved around. Getting the address sooner from the . recruiter is not gonna get them mail sooner.

Thank you Denise for that info. I think I will wait for the address on the form letter. I am so glad that my son already had his wisdom teeth out. I think my son is also going to San Antonio after BC, I sure hope they let him fly out Saturday instead of Friday, so I can spend a little time with him. I just wish I could hear from him. I know I would feel much better. The unknown is definitely tough on this sad mom.

I was so excited today, I received the standard form letter that the recruits send. It had a small note on the back of the pages from my son. Just so glad to know he is doing ok. He sounded a little sad and there were only about 5 lines. But I have my first letters ready and now that i have his address I can write him. Anyone elses recruits on Ship 09 Div 075?

We are never really prepared for it...a loss we have to get over. My son left Jan 9/12, and it's like,"What? You don't need me...well, I never!"
I'm just hoping this experience will yield wise choices, that he reaps the benefits of sound discipline, and that he remains healthy, both body and mind.
Great! Now you got me watering up...it's all good.

MAJolley, You have such a good attitude about your sons experience. I feel like you have raised him right and been a good Mom and he's gonna make you even more proud. Our grandson went to OCS in Newport, Ri last Feb. It was ROUGH and he had some really hard times, but you should see him now. He's in flight school in Pensacola and told him mom last week that he has no doubt that he made the right career choice. You are gonna miss him terribly but he is in good hands.

well my son left on the 3rd of Jan and flew out on the 4th from Dallas tx and he just got to call. he says there are 43 boys and around 40 girls in his group. he said there graduation date is the 2nd of march was so happy to hear his voice and also cried too to hear his voice. he misses us which is good to know
wasn't prepared for the call so early and of course we missed it at home at a birthday party but he called me on my cell
miss him so much he was my baby for along time :(
