Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Boot Camp-left Jan 9th
My son left for boot camp Jan 9th. I feel so lost not being in contract with him! I miss him so much! I am proud of him and his decision just hate that there is not contact. I received the kid in a box the other day and it was so hard seeing his stuff and made me want to hug him! I am thankful a friend told me about this site. It has helped already seeing all the support on here!

leslie...soon you will start receiving letters but don't fret if you don't get many letters some recruits don't have (or take ) the time to write BUT they really need to hear from home. Send anything...some just write a running commentary about their day, funny things the family does, the pets. I sent jokes from http://www.jokesgallery.com some are a little dirty but my son shared them and the division loved them.
You MAY get the first call before you get a real letter. usually the "I'm still alive" call comes 3 weeks after they left...in the afternoon and usually on the weekend. the area code is 847 so watch for that. Try not to cry...be strong you don't want to waste valuable talking time crying. If you cry he will get emotional as well. And don't be surprised if he is already emotional. The first 3 weeks are the worst. Let him know that he is through the worst and it will get better and that it is ONLY a few weeks out of his life and that A school and beyond is much different.

My daughter left on the 9th as well, Bittersweet day. So proud and happy for her, but hate the fact that I cant have any contact., I received the box to. I've been trying to reach her recruiter for any info he may have, No answer at the office, I should have taken his cell number. hahah. We can pray for all the recruits thru BC. I've started writing letters. That helps me.

Does the form letter come from our recruits or from the recruiter? Does anyone know?

Margaret...the form letter comes from your recruit....it will have the address, ship/division, grad date and info., password for the gate pass and a few lines from your recruit. You should get it a week or two after he/she left

Margaret...yes you can join the group. If for some reason she isn't in that PIR group...no big deal just leave that group and join (or from) the next. There is also a Facebook page for RTC that will give you info
