Hi, TaylorTot!  Welcome to the discussion.

I hope I get the first personal letter soon, but understand it can be a while.  I'm hoping they will get to write this Sunday, which would mean a letter by mid week or so.  Fingers crossed!

What is your SR's rate and where will he go for A school?

Everyone have their travel plans made for PIR??

im also hoping to get a personal letter soon... my daughter is ship 09 Div 085 also.... ive been writing her every single day... from what i understand.... the DO recieve their mail daily but dont have time to wri until the weekend. my SR is gonna be a Hospital Corpsman... her A school is @ Ft. Sam Houston Army base in San antonio tx.... We are buying our airline tix this week... waiting for payday... its pricy for all four of us to fly but we are NOT gonna miss it for anything!

I received a 5 minute call from my SR last night, it was a reward for having the shiniest shoes in the division :) He said that everyone were getting along well and that he has received a couple of my letters and will be writing back soon. Hopefully they will get here this week (fingers crossed) My SR is a fire control man and will be attending A school at GL. I live in Chicago so it's only about an hour dive luckily. I do plan on staying at a hotel there for the weekend to maximize the time I get with my SR.

TaylorTot:  congrats to your SR for the shiniest shoes!!!  Way to go!

I just got a call from mine a bit ago, looking for info for his security clearance.  Third call from him: first was the 8 second call to let me know he got there, then a quick and very terse call about 10 days in asking me to find and send his AP Exam scores, and now this one.  He seemed much more relaxed today, but I could tell he was tired.  He did say they have received first letters, so I guess their mail person is trained now.  Still no letters from him, but maybe later this week. Every time I tried to ask him questions, he'd say, "Mom!" so I knew he wasn't supposed to talk about anything personal.  :-)

We're about 1/3 of the way through, though - right???

:) Mine did the same exact thing. I believe their calls are monitored bc my SR would say ok 45 seconds left, talk fast lol. I believe they are exhausted and this week starts the hands on training so I guess they have to get use to not getting much sleep. I pray for their strength daily!!! 5 weeks and 4 days to go....39 more days. I hope it flies by!!!

I'm a proud father of a SR @ RTC-GL. He will PIR 3-9-2012 then go to "A" School in FL, for CTM.  I just wanted to say HELLO!!!

Mr Mom, welcome!  My SR is a CTR, also going to Florida for A school.  Welcome to the group!

Thank you, Congratulations to you & your SR!!!

Lodging for March 8 - 11 2012 - for $198 total no tax. Property:  NAVY LODGE GREAT LAKES - Telephone:  847-689-1485 - Number of Nights:   3 - Room Type:  2 QUEEN BEDS w/Kitchen - Number of Rooms:   1.

I also found a rental car for $183  for March 8 - 12 20012 vehicle type: standard/mid size SUV  with unlimited miles from thrifty car rental.

I'm still telling my wife I'd rather just take our SUV & save  $ ( as long as it don't break down lol), but I may lose this fight unless I say "then you drive from Spring hill,TN to Lake county,IL"  I just want you to relax, enjoy the scenery & let me worry about everything honey.  LOL

   I hope this helps.
