For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Bootcamp
My son left for bootcamp on Wednesday and I've been crying off and on ever since. I feel so lost not beling able to call him, FB him or contact hm in any way. I never thought it would be this difficult. I'm really struggling. I'm not worried about his safety, just feel so disconnected, like he's gone forever. He is my firstborn too, maybe that's it? I don't know, but he reached this milestone that I feel like I wasn't prepared for. Anyone else feel like that?

No, I have not heard from any others in our same boat. I won't be able to start making my plans for the trip to Chicago (financially) until after about the 20th. I sure hope I will still be able to get a hotel room by then)0: I did try to call our recruiter again this afternoon, still no answer. I guess it makes me feel a teeny bit better that I am not the only mom to not get that letter yet? Just so you know, my daughter said the food is good, and on Sundays they get to have real shower time(0:

We didn't put any money down on the hotel rooms... not to you get there. They take a credit/debit card to "hold" the room only. They only charge once you get there :) Hope that helps. Same with renting the car...... credit card to hold it... pay after. What is your daughters name.. when I write Tayler, I'll let her know that I know another "mom" on the ship! LOL
Glad to hear the food is good..... my daughter was actually did missionary work in W. Samoa... and had minimal selection of food. So she is, i'm sure very happy! But... nothing like MOM's cooking ;) I'm sure by sunday.. having a hot shower is nice.....
Hoping for that form letter tomorrow for us. We sure need some confirmation! :)

The shots are from an air gun, no needles. Hurts a little and you feel crappy the next day.
The dive platform? I don't swim well, but all you do is wrap your arms around yourself, step off and cross your feet and drop straight down. Pretty easy if you don't think about it, just do it. I found treading water to be more difficult. They may have changed it since I was in, but not much.

YES and my daughter has not left yet. She leaves 2-28-12 and i miss her already. I have been trying to get ready for this day for 7 mts and the closer it gets the worse i feel. navy has always been her dream and she is the baby of three girls whom all live about 25 miles from me so when she leaves i will feel lost.i have been a mother most of my life.How do you just let them go? Like you i no she will be fine and i am so proud of her but i guess we will just have to let them live without us and that is the hard part. WE WILL BE FINE

I felt the same way. My son left on 1/23. I found a few things helped. One, he started getting where he couldn't sleep right before he left so we came up with a plan that worked: we sent him on vacation to visit family. He toured a lot of the state of Texas and stayed with Aunts, Uncles and cousins and friends in college. When he came back the week before he was to go to boot camp he was totally relaxed. Then, we spent the last week he was at home going to his favorite restaurants, favorite places, etc. Then the night he checked into the hotel, we found a bowling alley a few blocks away and his brother, sister and I bowled three games. We haven't done that as a family in over ten years and it was a lot of fun. When we dropped him off at the hotel he was in a really good mood. That helped me a lot knowing he was happy. I've cried a lot off and on. The first week he was gone was bad. I write him letters all the time and make sure his college friends and family write him also. We've only gotten one letter so far but it was readily apparent that he was totally happy and ready to get on with it. He's where he wants to be and he's doing what he's supposed to do. We did come down on some of his college friends and their families (I have one college graduate and another son in college). We asked them to stop asking him why he was joining the Navy instead of going to college. We pointed out that we didn't ask why their kid was going to college and why they picked the one they did or why they chose their major. They don't have to justify their decisions to us and my son sure as heck doesn't have to justify his decision to them. Go Navy!

THANK YOU. THIS SITE IS WONDERFUL... I have a nephew in the navy , so i kind of no what is going to happen so that makes me feel so much better,, WE HAVE BEEN GOING FOR A MONTH NOW AND EVERY THING SHE SAYS SHE WANTS TO DO ,WE HAVE DONE.. WE HAVE A LOT OF FAMILY AND SHE HAS BEEN SAYING HER GOODBYES FOR A WHILE NOW BUT HER BIG PARTY IS THE 18TH..I AM JUST GOING TO MISS HER SO MUCH . BUT I WILL BE OK AND VERY SOON A MOTHER OF A UNITED STATES SAILOR.. YOU ARE RIGHT GO NAVY!!!!! GOD BLESS AMERICIA

Hope you are doing well Katze90210. It is so difficult the first couple weeks. We are three+ weeks in and it has gotten better. When we got our first letter (about 2/12 weeks in), that helped a lot! Hang in there! We all understand how difficult these first weeks are.

I see in some of the post people say they miss their SR. Any idea what that stands for or is it their Sailors initials?
