Anyone with division 081? Okay, I took a chance and booked flights before I got my letter, $117 Boston to Chicago roundtrip. Finalizing staying at Keylime Cove $113/night. We will have both the PIR and a birthday to celebrate that weekend!

I am so glad that we get letters now! It is nice to know what they are up to and how they are doing.

Mandiekaye-Did your husband mention Ceremonial Guard in his letters you received today? The briefing they went to was last Monday

Yes, well it was in the letter dated from Feb 5th. I am sending him something about it now, and he was wanting to make a career out of the Navy, but from what I am reading, they cant do that. They normally cant go above E3....I really hope he didnt do something just because it sounded good. because he is known to do that. If I am not there to tell him all the details, he just does whatever sounds good. UGH. what has he gotten himself into. lol

They didn't have the briefing until Feb. 6. Maybe they reconsidered and decided against it. Or maybe they won't pass the inspections and won't get accepted. My son's rate was supposed to be OS, known for rating up quickly, with lots of time for pursuing college education! Ugh!!! Someone mentions honor and pride and my son is all over it.
I know exactly what you mean, it doesn't sound like the Ceremonial Guard is really what my son was looking for out of his Navy career. Now we will have to wait for more mail. Please keep me posted as far as what you find out.

I will. I am looking for more information on it now, but all i can see is that they are chosen out of the best of the best. So they have to pass all the inspections and have to be perfectly done up and all that.

To be selected, a recruit must meet the highest standards of military order and  discipline. There can be no flaws in the way candidates present themselves. They  must demonstrate a high degree of attention to detail and show they are team  players. The recruit must show Navy pride and the determination to excel above  all.

This is what I found from this. But I cant seem to find much more than this. I will just have to wait for his letters and hopefully he mentioned it in the next one. I am writing him and hopefully they are allowed more letter time so maybe I will get something soon from him about it. This letter I am about to send out is all about that. lol I put some stuff in it about what all the sites said, so hopfully if he already chose it, he can still change his mind!!! I know once he hears all about it, he will change his mind. lol He always looks to me to find out details for him and its killing me that he is there making decisions without me!!!!! lol

Anyone have any luck finding out the color of their flag yet? I was going to order a scarf, but don't want to place the order until we had the color.

I haven't heard anything yet, but it takes 4 days each way for my snail mail. Do you want to wait until Friday, see if anyone gets anything, and if not we can decide as a group on the colors?

Sounds like a plan to me. I think it will be cool for them to see.

Ok ladies - lets try to win the Trivia contest today so we can get a pic of our SRs!

UGH!!! I'm starting to hate Tuesdays!! I've been trying since week 1 and I am getting very frustrated. On a much happier note, I GOT MAIL!! My son said in a letter to gf "I'm confused, the RDCs are letting up write letters, and its Tuesday." Poor kid, they have him trained well, but maybe a little suspicious of leniency. LOL

Still no idea about the flag colors at this point.
