My son left for bootcamp on Wednesday and I've been crying off and on ever since.  I feel so lost not beling able to call him, FB him or contact hm in any way.  I never thought it would be this difficult.  I'm really struggling. I'm not worried about his safety, just feel so disconnected, like he's gone forever.  He is my firstborn too, maybe that's it?   I don't know, but he reached this milestone that I feel like I wasn't prepared for.  Anyone else feel like that?

Thanks so new to all this.

just received my daughters box....sigh...

Form letter probably on it's way. Here's what it'll look like and links to PIR groups.

The way I look at it is this - with each milestone for us (like the "box") means we are just that much closer to the boot camp experience being over(0:

Good way to look at it. You might keep a log (journal) of your thoughts with each milestone - nothing you necessarily have to share with anyone. I find now that my son is leaving the Navy (his commitment ends next month), I have forgotten much. I am living vicariously thru you all. I wished I had just taken a few moments and keep a journal.

Regards, BQB.

My son left February 2.. I thought he was to get a 3 minute phone call the first week and I was to receive a letter with his mailing address????

Aaron's momMe!  , he won't be able to call you for a bit.  Mine was 2/12 - 3 weeks in when we got the first, and only, call.  He spent 8 minutes with girlfriend, 1 min 35 seconds with Mom and Dad.  LOL. The form letter should be on it's way.  That will give you more info and for us, made us feel a little more connected to our son. I hope you get some info soon!  My son left Jan 18 and we heard from him the first time this past Thursday. Hang in there!

You would think that if you give her birth (or wait anxiously to adopt him), his mother would warrant more than 1/4 of what girlfriend is getting. My husband just laughs and says, "You moms, don't understand the power of a &^$$!"  Sigh. LOL.

Check out Navy For Moms Survival Guide - it'll have important links - to PIR groups, the PIR Information Reference Group, Ratings Groups, videos of Boot Camp and more.

Our phone call came 3 weeks to the day!  Letters started rolling in about two weeks into it.  Some of us moms called the recruiters to get an address - although her actual address was different (as noticed when her letters came to me) she was still getting my letters though! Breathe, Breathe, Breathe!!!! (0:

The only phone call is when they get from the airport to NRTC to say they have arrived.  Box arrives in a week or so with their civilian clothes.  PIR letter arrives about two to three weeks in.  My son wrote a note on the back of the PIR letter.  You'll hear from yours soon.  I promise.

i agree @ navydoodle just got my box yesterday. :)
