Hello BC Moms,  my daughter is scheduled the graduate on March 16th.  I'm having a difficult time coming up with the finances for the flight for 3 tickets is now over 1,200.00.  Does anyone know of any discounts are organizations that may be able to assist?  Please help I'm running out of time.

we live in Texas and we could afford 4 air line tickets either, we drove 18 hrs one way and it was still much cheaper than flying-we drove 12 hrs the first day then got up early and drove the balance the next morning-I can assure you it will be worth whatever it takes to get there-one of the most moving experiences I have ever had

sorry

sorry we couldnt afford the tickets

Hi Helen,

I am not sure where you are coming from but I was able to purchase "wanna get away" tickets directly on Southwest Airlines website.  If you are willing to drive to the closest airport that these tickets are available you may be able to find something closer to your price range.  I was able to get 3 round trip tickets for $508. total.  I am flying out of Boston. Where do you live?

I hope this helps!

Cathie

Try flying into Milwaukee (MKE) or Midway (MDW), way cheaper than O'Hare.

Thank you I will look into those flight .

im having the same issue...except my daughter's pir date isnt till april 6...im still very worried though, she really wants her other siblings to be there for her special day and also her birthday. :(

im in the same boat. except my daughter's PIR date is april 6 on her birthday as well...she really wants her brother and sister to come but its tough... my total came up to the same amount as yours helen.

Yeah it was really taking a toll on my husband and i so we just had to break down and ask family and friend and work to assist us so we did and we where able to book 3 flights the total can to 1483. So try asking for shine assistance hopefully outcome will be the same. Good luck.

one of my friends wasnt going to be able to go to PIR and she told him that, he was ok with it and understood, then he checked into getting her a airline ticket and sent it to her..  thought it was sweet

I've heard the best time to search for airline tickets is on a Tuesday afternoon.  My son graduates on 4/6.  I'm coming from Richmond, VA and fares have changed every single day for the last two weeks I have been monitoring them.  The lowest I have seen is $380 but I feel certain they will be much lower by the second week of March.  Unfortunately, that is Easter weekend so I might not see the normal reductions like I have in the past.  Fortunately, my SR and I traveled to Denver for a mini ski vacation before he left for bootcamp and we volunteered to get bumped on our flight out of Richmond and each earned $400 vouchers.  My SR will be able to transfer his voucher to his older brother.  So if I can just find a fare less than $400, I'm good.  I have also found over the years that traveling from one big city to another on a direct flight is cheaper.  So, further down on this post, I saw a mom post that she has a great fare from Boston.  But going from Boston to Chicago will always be cheaper than flying out of a smaller airport.  My other option to get a lower fare is to drive to Washington, DC.

Hi Andrews mom..I found flights out of Norfolk Virgina through Southwest airlines for $200 range. I checked 4/5 returning 4/7. That would put you at your $400 budget. There is an early morning flight for $138. that leaves at 6:40am out of Norfolk on Thursday morning. Check out the Southwest airline website and go to "wanna get away" tickets.  These tickets can be exchanged for a different date but they are non refundable. Good luck!
