I am so glad that I have this opportunity to be apart os this group...It helps me deal with my daughter being gone...This is her first time away from me this long without at least a phone call everyday..My tears are still flowing, but with the help of this group and your stories, I am able to understand that she will be o.k....Patiently waiting for my letters and calls, then of course, graduation day!!!!!

Chin up. I am heading out tomorrow for my SR's graduation!!! It's been a long 9 weeks and I've made some great friends on this site. I am almost as excited to meet them as I am to see my son again. Write her lots of letters!!! My son got 27 the first time he was allowed to get mail! It was three weeks before he could write. Hang in there. Oh, and the tears probably won't stop. Mine still haven't!
Congrats Mom kimmic 1989! Thanks for the encouragement. 9 weeks seems so far away but life goes on and I'm hopeful that 9 weeks passes quickly.
I keep telling myself that thousands of kids survive bootcamp. Of course they are not my baby are they? I will be right there with you crying my eyes out. I just keep thinking things will never be the same once she leaves home.
I think God is trying to ready me to let her go. My daughter is leaving on 4/11 CTI. She is so anxious... She is driving me crazy. She is so focused on being at the perfect weight and being able to run a marathon. I wish she would relax and enjoy some of her time at home.
We have something in common as my son also left for bootcamp on 2/27. And while we live only 26 or so miles from the Great Lakes Navy base, it seems that he is miles away. Like you, I miss not being able to talk with him. I've already began preparing that first letter that I will ship out to him the minute I get his address.
Who knows, maybe you and I will meet 9 weeks from now as our kids graduate. :) In the meantime, your daughter, my son and all those experiencing this boot camp journey will be on my mind and in my heart.
My son left yesterday for Bootcamp... i am a mess bejond my understanding ... i left germany 20 years ago and i thought that was rough... no one prepared me for this ... my son in the Navy ... i cry all the time, i am 52 almost and i am a mess right now ... cant wait to get his address so i can write and his friends can support him ...
My daughter also left for boot camp on 02/27!! Maybe they are in the same place! I am a single mom, and she is my one and only! When she first told me she joined, I cried for three days straight. I also cried for two days up until the day she got on the plane. I had never felt so devastated. However, the next day, I felt a strange sense of peace. I know that she is doing just fine, and if I was falling apart, she would tell me to quit crying and look forward to graduation day! (She knows how much I need vacation time from work, and she knows that I will get that vacation time for graduation!) I am so proud of your daughter as I am so proud of mine! I hope to be able to meet with you if they both graduate on the same date! I am still not sure how to navigate this website, so forgive me if I get lost somewhere! :) Looking forward to hearing from you!
My son left for bootcamp on 2/28/12. Same as your daughter... This is his first time away from me this long without at least a phone call everyday. Today, so far and knock on wood, has been a good day. No tears! But I understand that we will be on an emotional rollercoaster for the next 8 weeks. Hang in there! We're all in this together.
My son left on March 1st to Great Lakes bootcamp, I sure hope it does get a little easier.. This is also the first time my son is away from home.I am an emotional wreck. I am glad there is others that know exactly what I am going thru..
My daughter arrived at GL 2/28-that was a very long day for us!
she went to college for a semester, but we never went more a few days with a text or call, this is going to be the hardest part for me. She really seemed to be ready for this adventure, but I still would like to be able to communicate more. But this to shall pass I suppose!
My son left on 2/29... This site has been very helpful... that 15 second call in the middle of the night... made me crazy... sounded so robotic... but once I read it was expected on here... made it much better... I guess our sons & daughters will be in different graduating classes since the dates are days apart...
