For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I did not realize how dependant I had grown on this website. Yesterday when it was so very quiet....I found myself waiting for a response all most like waiting for a call from my SR. Isn't it funny the bond we have......and this is just boot camp!!! It is bound to grow stronger with time!! I missed ya'll when I didn't hear from you!

Ok, My son called on the day I was out of town, it is such a bummer I cried when I heard his voice on the answering machine, It has been a hard week, His grandma is in the process of dying and shouldnt live through the night, we have decided not to tell him untill after PIR. so that he can be strong emotionally for all that is happening, and we feel it is best to hear the info when we can be there for him.

Oh my...I am so sorry for you. I certainly respect you not telling your SR, I know that is the right thing but I also know you must be aching inside. My prayers are with you and your family.

Aw...I too am so sorry to hear about his g-ma. I agree totally with your decision to wait to tell him. As hard as it is to not tell him it will probably be for the better. My son's recruiter told us before he left unless it is a mom, dad,sibling, they cannot let them come home anyway and if say a grandparent passed that it is best to wait to tell them. I feel for you, and will also say prayers for your family.
I am also sorry to hear you missed your call. Stay strong and know that he is doing well and that it won't be long before you get to see him in person.

omama, I too am so sorry to hear your sad news. I will keep your family in my prayers. You are right, in my opinion, to wait to tell your son. They need to stay as focused as possible on all the challenges given them at BC. You are a very good Mom. Take care.

Thank you all for the thoughts! My son finally called! and wanted to know how his grandma was doing so he got the news. He took it well, I am sure he will shed some tears at night.It was hard to tell him, but felt the timing was right, and I could not lie. and I am proud of him he passed his PT again, I think it was the final test!!! and passed something to do with ropes also. My husband and I went to "Act of Valor", the movie about Navy seals. it was interesting and made me cry, but also made me proud. If you havent seen it, It is worth watching, kind of gives a picture of what Navy seals do..

Ok 809...you are all awfully quiet....did anyone get more letters this past week? We got one on Thursday, no stories really just that he is doing well. He loves it though he says it is a little tougher than than he'd expected. ( He had heard that boot camp was too soft for these pre buds guys) He said the days are long, 18 hours and longer if he has watch. Still loves every minute and is proud every morning when he puts that uniform on. Can't get better than that I suppose. I love when you all share your stories. My son says he has many but he is saving them for when we come out to see him. lol

Hello judge. I did get a letter this week and it was a great one!!! He is loving being there and the workouts are "by far the coolest" he says. It thirlls me to know that he is happy. He does love his uniform!!! You are right...It can't get much better than to hear these things!!

Heres a funny story my son wrote: he said that someone farted and they all laughed and the RTC told them if they wanted to act like dogs they could be dogs, and had the whole unit get down on all fours and bark and act like dogs for 3 hours. said it was crazy, and super annoying!
