My son is in this division.  Is anyone else's?

I received my form letter (but no box) and have sent out my first letter along with that great questionnaire and a SASE.  I don't think I'll get 'The Box'.  He was pretty adamant about not taking anything he didn't mind giving away.  Any word from your children?  How are you holding up?  I'm doing a lot better than I thought I would.  I still can't sleep thru the night, but I'm not crying at the drop of a hat as a was at first.

My son hates writing and reading, so I'm not sure how much I'll hear from him.  That's why I found that questionnaire perfect for him.  I'm going to look thru the other ones to send him another one later on.  Has anyone found any other cool things to include in the letters.

I thought I'd start this discussion to at least find out how the division is doing in case my son doesn't tell me much.  I think that if we all share (what we can share, of course), we'll be in the loop.  I don't know about you, but just knowing helps keep me at ease.  That's why I love this website and I check it everyday.

My son is also in this division but he left 2/23.  He must have had a lot of "p" days.  I got the form letter with a small note which that read "Hi Mom! and Dad.  I'm GOOD.  Please tell everyone to write especially (list of 4 best friends).  LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

The capitalization was his. It made me laugh because my son, too, does not like writing either.  I was just glad that he wrote something at all!   I will be happy to share anything that I learn too.

I have written him twice and started a third one.  I thought I'd just keep him up to date on things going on here.  I also posted his address to my facebook so that people would write him.  I hope that every recruit is flooded with letters!!!

Like you, I am very proud of his choice and pray daily that he can finish strong!

My kiddo is also in that group too..  I also sent him the questionnaire.    I also found this website, copies a few of the jokes in letters to him to make him laugh, he loves jokes.    http://www.ahajokes.com/military_jokes.html

I am so excited for our kiddos and so very proud of them.  Did you two check out the Navy Recuit Command on Facebook?  they have a Trivia Tuesday at 8am sharp.  if one of us gets the answer correct, they will send the winner a picture of there kiddos division.   So far I missed them due to my work is hectic, but i thought i would share with you too!

Thanks for the Tuesday Trivia information.  Since I'm a stay-at-home mom, I'll definitely be on at 8 a.m. next Tuesday.  Our oldest son is in this division; he is the first in our family to join the Navy.  Very proud of him.  He left on Thursday 2/23.  I received his box the following Tuesday and the form letter on Saturday.  He was allowed to call home today as he needed some information about his passport; I was able to gather a little info.  He hasn't had any time to write yet; they are all being kept busy.  His training - I assume this division - has just started as they were on "hold".  I asked what that meant and why.  He didn't have answers.  Does anyone know if being on "hold" will delay graduation?  Or will all training be crammed into one less week's time? When I asked how he was doing, he replied, "It's tough, Mom." It was sooooo good to hear his voice, though.

Thank you for doing the Trivia Tuesday, I will do my best to get on FB.  Good Luck!  :o)

@Tonesbass - My son also wrote with the Navy Capitalization Print...  I just laughed because my biggest fear was that he'd send me the address and I wouldn't be able to understand it because his handwriting is terrible!!!  I've only written one letter and the questionnaire.  I'll be writing another one this weekend.

@Jennifercrazyplace - Thanks for the link.  I am definitely using a few of these on my next letter.  I did see the Tuesday trivia this week...  (Tuesday had passed already.)  I will be on the lookout since I work from home.  Hopefully, someone from our division will get it and we can see a picture of them.  That would be amazing!!!!

@KRScott - My son's form letter came and it stated 4/27 as the PIR date, even though he arrived very late on 2/28.  I think that the date hasn't changed.  Like your son, my son wrote one sentence in capital letters and underlined.  THIS IS TOUGH!  We'll keep praying for the entire division.  Hopefully, they will all stay strong, healthy and finish together on 4/27.

My son arrived really late on the 28th.  The airport was shut down due to an emergency landing.  My very quick phone call was at 3:15 A.M. Perhaps KRScott, they sat in the Chicago airport together.

The capitalization was greatly appreciated because it enabled me to read my son's handwriting.

Thanks for the jokes and the trivia info.  I would seriously love to see or hear from my son.  I am not quite sure what 'on hold' is but I know that my son was told that there were not too many jobs out there ... the ones he wanted were filled so he joined logistics.  As it was he waited for over 5 months for boot camp.

I wonder how big the PIR will be??

My kiddos writing is really bad too, I was amazed at how nice it was...

@tonebass, My son waited for 8 month to leave for bootcamp, he has 6 kids leave with him from Portland.  My son stated that he was the shortest waiting period, the rest of the kids waited 2years to 11 months.

@ everyone

I have been doing alot of research, all over the web and talking to people since he joined, I heard that currently the Navy is not taking very many kids at all right now, and I saw on one of the military sites that they are asking some older navy members to take early retirement.  So, we should all be proud our kiddos made the cut.  My kiddo is headed to IT, in Florida.  I heard they are really backed up.  There is a group on here that is for FL, its crazy to read some of the posts.

Where are your kiddo's going?

If you look on the main page i think there is information on the HOLD thing.

Well today my X got a call from our kiddo, they have started his security clearance process.  I wish he could have called me...i guess they had all my info and was missing something from his dad...SOOOOO BUMMED!!!  But, at least I know that he is alive!

It took my son almost a year to get in.  I am curious as to what the security clearance is because I thought they did that before he left.  It was crazy, they needed my dead husband's social security number.  I wonder if they did it in advance because he is Nuke.

My son mentioned that he would be going to A school in Pensacola... not sure what his actual job will be, but I think it will be something related to aircraft mechanic...  I just hope he's back home in time to continue his university studies.  He took this semester off for the Navy, but wants to complete his Bachelor's before signing up for active duty.  He's in the Navy Reserve.

Your son sounds like he is an AD, which is also what my fiance is doing. So he is in BC now, right?
