My son is in this division.  Is anyone else's?

I received my form letter (but no box) and have sent out my first letter along with that great questionnaire and a SASE.  I don't think I'll get 'The Box'.  He was pretty adamant about not taking anything he didn't mind giving away.  Any word from your children?  How are you holding up?  I'm doing a lot better than I thought I would.  I still can't sleep thru the night, but I'm not crying at the drop of a hat as a was at first.

My son hates writing and reading, so I'm not sure how much I'll hear from him.  That's why I found that questionnaire perfect for him.  I'm going to look thru the other ones to send him another one later on.  Has anyone found any other cool things to include in the letters.

I thought I'd start this discussion to at least find out how the division is doing in case my son doesn't tell me much.  I think that if we all share (what we can share, of course), we'll be in the loop.  I don't know about you, but just knowing helps keep me at ease.  That's why I love this website and I check it everyday.

I don't blame you! We don't have any control over it anymore and that is rough. You are trying to support your loved ones. You are...and deep down that connection you have....is there.

Yes...been on this site for a year almost now and as a veteran for about 10 months. My "correction" is out of concern for you and your recruit. I would just hate to have it come around and "bite you in the hiney" when I knew I could have prevented it.

Great advice, FTLW!  I always tell my son "Do your best to make your time there as short as possible".  LOL.  Something I plan to continue to do.  Thanks so much for always advicing us newbies.  I really appreciate it!  We don't want to make things worse for them.  You are the best!

My username is a pseudonym and no connection to my son's name. Thanks for the concern.

Yes, it's hard to let go and not "mother" him any longer.  Old habits die hard! Again, I appreciate your willingness to cover my backside.

Got it TY!

I have gotten a letter from my fiance today, He is in this division, Anyone else? He says he has been made a section head, and has to deal with all those aforementioned kids who are not following orders and getting them into trouble.

I got a letter!  He says he's eating fine.  It's tough!  He said to write to him because he hasn't received any letters.  I've sent him four letters already!!!  Did anyone's son tell them that they've received mail?  Well, gotta go write to him again right NOW!!!!  So exciting!!!!

My son has received a few of our first letters. He said keep them coming because hearing from home is what keeps him going.

OK.  Well, mail to and from this island seems to be slower.  I got "The Box" yesterday and I know most moms got theirs a lot sooner.  I just wrote him another newsletter.  Hopefully, he'll get them all together.  Thanks for the info.  Much appreciated.

I got my first 3 letters today.  My son told me he has not received any mail although many of his bunkmates did.  He said some of his buddies were literally in tears because they did not get any mail.  It shows how much the mail means.  Keep those letters coming!

That's great, Cathy!  Did your son mention how he was feeling healthwise?  Hope he's feeling better.  I just wrote to my son and his sister and girlfriend are also mailing out letters tomorrow morning, too.

My son is on 6 different medications but says he is starting to feel better.  They are also limiting his PT.  He is concerned about falling behind but has vowed to give it 200% when he is allowed to exercise fully.  He seems to have a good attitude.  Hearing from him was such a relief.  Thanks for asking.

Well I got my survey back and three letters from my son, he passed his swim test, but i am really worried about him.  His letters are not very cheerful and he stated that his group, is having a hard time with team work.  He even told not to buy my plane ticket because he is afraid he might not graduate...OK, I am a little stressed...any advice, and yes he told me that the letters from all of us mean everything to them!
