While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

When they come out of bootcamp, they all really need and want watches. they do sell them at the NEX for about $100, I have heard. We got our son one at Costco with 5 different alarms, waterproof (they are sailors after all), solar powered, satelite time set, etc. He LOVED it. Was only about $60 at Costco. Some said that their watches must have black bands, but his does not and after a year and a half he said no one has ever said a thing about it.
I did get him two coins, one for his A school graduation and one for his Power school graduation (he is a Nuke), and he LOVED those two. One was for his rank, E4, and the other for his rate Machinist Mate. http://www.nwtmint.com/

I really like the watch idea, as TeacherMom said mine also always used her cell phone but I know that won't be an option for her anymore.
What I cant seem to find anywhere are the spec's of the watch I have to look for. Like how you commented you had heard they had to have black bands, I have heard the same plus several other requirements.
So I was wondering if anyone knew where we could look to see what is actually allowed?

I've heard so many different things on watches, but all of them say they have to be tasteful and not ostentatious. I decided to ask my SR in a letter about the idea of buying him a watch and asked him if he wanted us to pick one out or if he wanted to take the time that Friday to go to the mall and pick one out like some have suggested. Haven't heard back from him. Since he never was a watch wearer, I decided I'd better ask. There was a really nice one that was recommended because it was waterproof and hardy, but it didn't look very dressy. Since they will be doing inside work, at least during A School (Hospital Corpsman) I didn't feel like he need the hardy waterproof kind. Plus, he has never cared for those either. Just too many decisions, so I gave up and just asked him. It was too much for this mom's poor pitiful old brain!

If he will be working in a hospital I suggest a waterproof watch because he will be washing his hands A LOT (I am a nurse)

Okay, I am trying to find the perfect gift for my new sailor in A school and really want to get him a watch. But, I am confused on what kind of watch to get and what the restrictions are to what he can wear as watch. Please, does anyone know what guidelines I need to follow. I want to be able to get him one that is very nice, but he can also wear without any trouble. I am very lost to scythe least. Haha please help!!

I just found this site, wished I would have found it before my son graduated! I think it would have been a great idea! I really like the Sailor Paryer! And the Mom's prayer! I would have got my Sailor this for sure!

I ended up not getting my son anything for graduation, but after graduation he mentioned he needed a money clip because the Dress Blues have very small pockets and he wanted a place to keep his money, license and cards! It worked out that right after graduation there was a place in the mall that had money clips and did engraving right then! So I bought him one and had his initials engraved was done in 5 minutes and was $20.00:)
