sjtina...please PM me on the Coronado dates.
No need to apologize. I think we just need to be careful what we post about our boys. God's speed to each and every one of them. Yes, I look forward to meeting you at PIR !
Congratulations to Division 808, They had PIR today. You will be joining them shortly. 2 more weeks woo hoo
My son wrote his sister, and said when BS are, getting excited, and I kind of know when to expect a call.. we will already be on our way so hopefuly all goes good!! I am wishing our boys the best!!!
Could not agree more oldlady. I have read this book twice. It is a great depiction of what life will be like for them and a real eye opener. I could not put it down. Ever since my son was convinced this is the path he was meant to persue I have emersed myself in as much knowledge and as many books as I could get my hands on. Dick Couch has several books. Another great book is: Lone Survivor, by Marcus Lutrell. I do this so that I can understand and support what he wants for his life. I just yesterday joined the pre-buds group: class 295-296. There is a great list on this forum that details what the coming weeks have in store. It is quite exhausting just to read it let alone live it!! I guess that will be our next support group and I want to get to know these great moms who have ventured there just ahead of us. I hope to see all of you there! 2 weeks! and counting! go 809. Prayers for all of them.
They started filming Lone Survivor, I heard Mark Wahlberg is playing Marcus Luttrell. My son kept telling me to read the book, its on my Kindle but with school I haven't had the time. I did get half way through The Warrior Elite, once again haven't had time to finish it. Its actually eerie the way he describes the beginning of Hell Week.
I was just reading about the captians cup on Saturday the 24th, sound like it will be a nice and fun day for our boys, at least for the 3 or so hours that they compete with the other divisions, I will be excited to see how things go for them, I have heard they have really learned to work as a team! Also I am just so excited for PIR, leaving in 1 week! I cant wait to see my son and the changes he has gone through.
You gals have been mighty quiet! I did not get a letter this past Thursday. Did anyone hear from SR's this week? I like to live viariously through everyone elses stories. I printed two gate passes and put one in my purse so that I know I will have that one at least. ( I famously forget important documents when I travel). Also, no on has mentioned whether or not they are definately attending any of the meet and greets. Would love to meet some folks on Thursday evening. just let me know where you might go.
Hi there Judge, Yes, I got a letter last Thurs. He did say he was sorry that he didn't have alot of time for writing as there were alot of inspections and testing going on. But that all is well. I hear the same thing that they are working together great as a Div. My son is enjoying all the new things they have been doing, the Marlin Spike, the handling and shooting the guns, the fire fire fighting, etc, This week they will be working with the gas mask, chemical suits and more tests. Did any of you hear about their work out in a pool full of ice?? My son said it literally took his breath away. But "it was awesome".
We won't be getting in until around 8pm or later on Thurs night. So I do not know about the Meet and Greets. But I will be looking for you (and ALL of you )at PIR. It is my understanding that those headed for BUDS must go and get signed in and move to their new "ship" then about 4 pm we can up them up for a few hours until they need to get back. Then Sat and Sun we can be with them most of the day. I do not have specific times yet. They will be briefed with all this info.
Ok ladies T minus 10 days........we are in single digits tomorrow !! Don't forget the kleenex !! :)
Hi there judge! I got a call 1 week ago today and then a letter on Thursday. It had been a while though. It was good to hear from him and he said they are doing great!!! I haven't committed to a meet and greet yet...soooo...let's say Sarge's. I am staying at Springhill Suites and I believe Sarge's is very close by. How about that?
