My son leaves for boot camp on May 2nd. I'm a nurse and I'm already making my summer schedule. How do you know when PIR will be? I want to have ample time off and book a flight. Is the ceremony typically held on a certain day of the week? Any info would be helpful.
Thank you so much!
Wendy

I'm a nurse as well so I know how tough scheduling can be.
Most PIR's are held on a Friday (unless there is a holiday then Thurs and occ. Wed.) Your PIR MAY be June 22....IF RTC doesn't skip a week of graduation between now and then and also depends on how long he is in processing (P-days)
Plan on getting there Thurs (to attend the Meet and Greet and meet all the N4M families) and go home on Sunday. You'll need to instruct him to let you know ASAP when he finds out when he is leaving for A school. (What is his job going to be BTW?) Some leave EARLY Sat morning for A school.
here are some groups that may help you

If he is there the typical 8 1/2 weeks, PIR will be June 29. If he is in a push division and one of the last to fill his division, it would be June 22. If there is a skipped week for some reason or he gets held over, then PIR would be July 6. BC can last 7 to 9 weeks depending on how quickly his division forms and if the RTC skips any weeks of PIR. The only way to know for sure is when you get the form letter with the date. The groups Jessica suggested will be a great help to you.
its tough but dont try to guess. Things can happen. Its always best to wait for that form letter. It still will give you about 5-6 weeks to plan. All you need is a plane ticket and a hotel. Unless it changes you are only going to get Friday with your loved one. The ship out to school on Saturday. If staying in GL for school you will have the weekend.
But again waiting for the letter is the best thing.
