While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I just got my letter! FYI - My son reported to GL late on Tuesday 3/6. I live in the Chicago area. His box came within 36 hours and the letter arrived today!

The SR's were able to write letters this past weekend. I received one from my son today! (One advantage to living in the Chicago area is that I get my mail from GL quickly!) Like others, I had asked for names of SRs that didn't receive any mail, unfortunately, he didn't send any...maybe that means everyone got mail?? Hold on, you should all be getting new mail in the next couple days!

Nothing else except that the group is drained physically, mentally and emotionally; they are only getting about 5 hours of sleep at night. It was a very short note because he had to shine his boots. He said it was "getting better" but still lots of yelling by the RDCs. He didn't mention any specific punishments or problems but the first inspection is coming this week.

I got mine too! It is one nice thing about being close! He said that they were getting to know each other and learning to work as a team. It sounded as if he is adjusting. Just glad to hear from him, I am sure I will pour over it again and again looking for reassurance that he is really OK. I hope you all get your letters soon!

I agree Timmysmomma! I I was so petrified when I went to boot camp I did listen very carefully and I studied every spare second. It paid off for me as I won the highest GPA for the whole training group....It earned me an extra day of liberty and no watch on liberty weekend! I told me son about that and I hope he remembered because regardless of he does well on testing, it all comes down to his performance at BS21 and he will have to remember it there. Some of the recruits don't use the "waiting" time wisely. I showered fast, I ate fast, I did everything fast so I could pull out my notes and study. I would rewrite things over and over and over to remember.

well no letter for me or the girlfriend so still hopes for tomorrow, i'm kinda worried he didn't get the stamps I sent him! Congrats to all the rest who got letters, keep the details coming for the rest of us!!!

I sent mine bandaids, moleskin and chapstick. I read it somewhere on these boards that we could send those things. I hope that was good info and doesn't get him in trouble. I have been putting just a few bandaids in each letter.

Got my letter today too! He sounded really positive and good spirited which really lifted my spirits. He said he made a good friend who was his bunkmate in P days but they still help each other out. He is " a good ole boy" from NC is all the info I got. Are any of you on here from NC? He said he was not sure what day they are on but they did skip P5. He says they march 7-10 miles per day. He says the RDC's are pretty cool and the chief is very motivational. Says they don't have much time to think...pass out as soon as their heads hit the rack. When they do talk they miss the little things like sleeping with a blanket, sleeping in the dark, sleeping with no socks, etc. but they have fun with it as much as possible.
Possible phone call this weekend! I cannot wait!
