Hey there! Just a place for family of SRs in Ship 09 (USS John F Kennedy) Division 146 to get together and chat, ask questions, and discuss whatever. :)  I'm new to this, so anyone who has a heads up on anything regarding the ribbons (LaLa Ribbon Queen I believe is who we need to contact) and stuff like Sarge's Meet-and-greet, feel free to enlighten the rest of us!

Curious about WHERE exactly at RTC your recruits barracks are? Check out this diagram of the RTC.

I know that's what I'm going to do!!

Hi Rene-Nice to meet you. This is my first experience with having a child go to Boot camp, he is my first born.

Ugh,how long does this feel to you? I was better after watching some videos on boot camp because it took some of the mystery away. that first phone call will be welcome. We are from Pennsylvania.

We are from Kansas, since this is my second child to go through bootcamp, I am less anxious.I am not sureyou ever get use to your child leaving and not being able to contact him and hear that he is ok. He is my youngest boy which makes is hard. Brandon`s older brother graduated in 2008 from Great Lakes and he keeps reminding me how fast time goes by. I worry and then when I get that first call I will be reassured, that he is ok.

What is your son planning to do in the Navy?

I have missed my son so much I have already sent 3 letters, I can`t wait to hear from him. When my older son was at bootcamp, I received my first letter after about 2 weeks and a phone call to follow. It was nice just to hear that things where moving along although tough. I guess I worry more since this is my youngest son.

From what I've heard, the first letter and the call are around the 3 week mark. Just hold out one more week!!! We can do it!

Ive already sent my hubby like 10 letters, and some of them have more than 1 letter in the envelope... I kind of feel staulkerish lol

Sent off my first yesterday...was like 12 pages i think. Have another ready to go tomorrow...another 5 pages. lol

when do you suppose they will receive letters if they were mailed on Thursday?

I am hoping the letter I sent on Thursday, will arrive on Monday.
