My son is leaving today and will be sworn in March 20th, 2012 for Boot Camp in Great Lakes, my emotions are all over the place. I am so proud, excited and a little scared!!! I have read on the site about the boot camp training and it has put my mind at ease some. Anyone else son or daughter leaving for Boot Camp the same time?

Amen !

My son left on the 21st!  Feels like it was at least a year ago since I've seen him!

where did he leave from?   mine left from tampa on the same day.  and it does seem like forever since i saw him

mine left on the 21st.

My son also left for Boot Camp on 30-Mar-12.  The hardest part is the not knowing for so long.  I got the box on sat. We went to MEPS with him, but as he was on a bus for RTC, we didn't stay to see him off.  My oldest son was in the Air Force, and we had an address the 1st week, so this is alot harder. I can understand why so many parents don't wait for the form letter to start writting. But I read that you should Not use the address the recruiter gives you.   So confused.  and there is so much on this site, it is so hard to find what you need.

I am writing everyday so can't wait until I get an address.

My son left from Montgomery, AL on 03/21. It's feels like it's been a lot longer than 5 days since I've seen him.

Like Vamom, I've not gotten the box yet either.

I received my box last Saturday the 24th. It was quick

Hang in there ya'll. It looks like your PIR (Pass In Review=graduation) date will most likely be May 18....won't know for sure till you get the form letter.

You can call the recruiter for the addy but it is only a temporary address while the are in P-days (Processing) and the recruits will move-delaying any mail that you send BUT they will not get any mail for about 3 weeks (and won't get to mail any real letters for about as long d/t training the Mail Petty Officer) The benefit of getting the address is knowing the divison....that helps us figure out the PIR date before the RTC posts it on line so you can join the PIR group ---lots of info and support there.

My son arrived in Great Lakes on March 19th, 2012. I am feeling all the same emotions, but I am happier than I was when his older brother joined the Army National Guard, infantry, and was sent off to Afghanistan. The hardest part right now is the lack of contact. I just have the two boys, and this is my baby. Can't wait to hear from him!!!

My son left on same day 20 mar out of Seattle. I received his box last Friday and today I found out is company and mailing address. Exciting news.

Hi, how did you find out so quick?
