I just got my letter! FYI - My son reported to GL late on Tuesday 3/6.  I live in the Chicago area. His box came within 36 hours and the letter arrived today!

I was just reading the discussions for div 132 they also got phone calls last night and it seems that several of the recruits had trouble with their phone cards so that might explain why those of us that didn't get calls didn't get them.

If I hear anything, I'll let you know. But the only other guys we discussed was Scooter and another boyfriend in his division. For now though, no news is good news. If there are injuries or set backs, the Navy is going to do every thing they can do to get them better and push them forward.
Some didn't seem to get but five minutes to talk, so maybe some didnt even get any time or had issues with cards.

I only got 30 seconds with my SR .. He complained about having troubles with the phone card. He is in division 132

TampaBayRobin as much as I'm glad to hear that so I don't feel like my son was left out, I'm sad for those recruits who have never used a phone card in their life and were waiting for this day to call home....how awful...I'm just broken hearted for my son and all the others that experienced problems because that first phone call is so needed.....Write him a letter and tell him you know he tried and it's not his fault....I know my son was probably devastated as he really needed a pep talk from me and his GF to stay strong....please moms of 131, tell your sons to tell the kid with the hurt shoulder to stay strong, he can do it, and the support of his shipmates will help a lot....tell him we are all pulling for him here....His buddies at work used to call him JD   if you call him that he will know.....

I'm so sorry to hear that some SRs either didn't get a chance to call or had trouble with their phone cards and I'm sorry for all the moms and girlfriends who didn't get the call we all were waiting so anxiously for.  I know my SR has only received 2 letters from me so far.  There are 3 others he has not yet received so that is part of the reason I have not gotten a letter from him yet.  He did tell me that he sent one on Sunday so I should be getting it this week sometime.  I hope you all hear from your SRs soon.

My son is in Div 132 and it took 2 tries to get through to me. It had to be something with the phones there..ALL the calling cards can not be not working...

Got two letters from my SR, and my mom got one too! In hers, he gave names of 3 boys who aren't getting mail, pm me if you want the names! let's send them some encouragement!

What a good man!! Writing your momma!!

Maddie, message me those names! Thanks

mee too, I want to get mail out for them today!

In finally got 2 letters today too.  When he called on Monday he asked why I wasn't sending him many letters and I told him I had sent 5 but he had only gotten 2 of them.  I think for whatever reason the mail from CT is very, very slow getting there and then getting to him.  Maybe that is what is happening with the three that have not gotten any mail just yet.  I send him 2 letters each week.  I have given his friends his address and they are supposed to be writing to him also so hopefully his mail will be picking up.

My SR said they can only write on Sundays right now, and would have to "earn" the ability to write every day. So, if we start getting mail more, then that means good news! Hope all your men did very well on their inspections and tests.

My SR said Scooter slept near him and was a good guy!! He told me the name of his bunk mate and said they work really, really well together. He also told me the food workers were really nice (so I must have mistaken when I read an earlier letter that said everyone was strict) and a blind gentleman was working the chow hall. He said it was very encouraging to see him working.

He said everyone is starting to work better and better with each other each day, and other than struggling with his wisdom teeth extraction (where he got to listen to the radio during the procedure), he's doing well. Everyone sounds so positive from what I am gathering with each and every letter!
