Would love to chat with other moms who have a son or daughter in this ship/division! My son left for boot camp on 3/12.

Well we had mail from our SR daughter today! Happy Day! She is hanging in there and said she is making friends (don't know who), but she is the Education Petty Officer (EPO) which is a good thing. They are working hard and learning to be a team -- lots of individual chances to learn from collective mistakes made! Thought we'd share this with you all.
Thank you so much!! That's great! Sounds like all of these kids are doing so well!!
We got another surprise phone call today:) yay! so happy to hear he is adjusting well. He is the appointed "mail person" and also was asked to be a shipmate yeoman? He said its like the secretary/administrator for the divisions? not really sure, but he was excited and it sounds like an honor for him:) He seems to like everyone there and says it is getting "easier". He said Tuesday is considered day 2/5 so he will get his hour phone call sometime that day if all goes well:)
Yayy! Sounds like he's doing great! That is an honor for him!! I think the Yoeman is like second in command and is assigned quite a bit of responsibilities. That's awesome!! What do you mean by his day 2/5 when he gets an hour call? Do all of them get that?
Well I finally received a letter from my SR yesterday. He is certainly living up to being "a man of few words". It was a short but sweet letter basically telling us he loves and misses us, and that the first week was rough but its getting much better now, and a p.s. "please take care of my truck". Lol! No mention of the flag ceremony award, no mention of his MAA assignment, nothing about boot camp whatsoever!!! I wanted to bust out and cry after i read it. I thank God for this website and you ladies because without you, I would know nothing but how much he loves us!!! Don't get me wrong, it was really good to get that letter and hear that from him, but i also REALLY want to hear about their accomplishments at boot camp!!!
he says the days are numbered. Yesterday was 2/2. Weekends don't count. He said they get a phone call on 2/5. I think it will be for everyone on his ship/division? (i don't know that for sure tho, just guessing) he said they have a test today, and then another one monday or tuesday (i can't remember) and then they get their call on 2/5, which is Tuesday. I'd keep your phone by you just in case. Hope you all get calls too! He seems to be in a great group! He said the petty officer asked them to raise their hands if they thought it was getting easier. He said they all raised their hands and the P.O. commented to them that its not getting easier, but that they are all doing so well learning and doing what's expected of them that that is why it seems easier:) I keep asking him about the food cuz someone kept telling us before bc that they weren't given enough calories for what they were using, but that's not true:) He said its like cafeteria food, in mornings they have a few choices of a meat, eggs and hashbrown and a fruit bar. Then for lunch and dinner the fruit bar is a salad bar. At dinner they have the option of 2 entrees and 5 sides plus the salad bar! He said he misses my cooking but that its not bad at all:) he said they practice marching everyday and he really likes that. I asked him about his boots and he said they are not bad at all. He said they were able to go to the NEX and buy gel inserts for them. That's all i can remember right now. I'll put more on here as i remember lol Hope you all have a blessed day:)
Thanks, you're the best! I hope we get a chance to meet at graduation!
My boyfriend is in this division! I got my letter yesterday and was sooo happy. He left for boot camp on 3/8. I hope what dttbrammer wrote is true about phone calls on Tuesday. My boyfriend said he didn't know when he'd be able to call me but when he did, he expected me to drop whatever I was doing which is exactly what I'd do anyways! LOL. He also had mentioned that he wasn't sure if he was gonna get liberty when he graduates but I think he will because he has A-School in GL's as well. I miss him so much but this site helps!!
I agree, this site is fantastic!! That's strange about him mentioning that he wasn't sure if he was going to get liberty when he graduates ...my son said something similar to his gf in his letter to her. He too will be attending A school at GL. Hmmm, Maybe it's just a way of keeing theoe guys in line until they reach the finish line? I don't know ...
Well I'm just hoping my boyfriend just doesn't want to get my hopes up just in case I won't be able to fly out there. Plus it would really be a long way to travel. I live in Southern California but I told him I'm more than willing to come out anyways. I just hate how long it takes till I get a response again haha. I'm hoping I get another letter on Thursday like I did last Thursday. Has you're son mentioned anything about PIR?
I know what you mean about already writing him a second letter asking about more things haha. I'm currently in the process of writing him another one when I got an email to my phone that someone had responded to my post lol. My boyfriend didn't really mention all that much about being there just that he missed me a lot and whatnot. I wish he explained more! I also wish they told them where they were gonna be stationed sooner but it is what it is. I'm just happy I heard from him finally! :))
