My son is EOD also. I know when my son says he made friends with someone I know they are a great kid! So glad to have someone here that we can exchange information with.

We are going up on the 3rd that am and I am staying the week and leaving on Mothers day. I am hoping I might get more visiting in that way. He said for the PIR we might have a day with some extra hours mixed in.

I am going to make a list of things to talk to him about so I won't cry the entire time...hahaha  I have 2 grand babies that he left behind and he said that was the hardest part.

We are planning a trip to florida already during dive school since the next school there is the real deal and I heard that they are in school for 8-11 hours a day. I don't know if that includes studying after class or what.

Take care

suzanne

Ok I got mine yesterday! He wrote his in a form of a journal letter so he started Mar 19 and ended Saturday and mailed Sunday.

He drew me a map of their "house" and next to him are Moreland and Bisgard. He had Ford as his bunkmate but he got moved as he is now section leader.

He misses so many things like sitting and crossing his legs and music and dogs and driving and so on.

I cried while I read it so hard that I have had to read it over and over to take everything in. More emotional than I thought it was going to be.

Didn't sound very good at the start but at the end sounded a little better. Also he said if the letters are too fat then they go through them so I need to mail just a page or 2 at a time in one envelope so I will mail 2 envelopes a day probably at a time. I also told him is runs out of room to throw envelopes away.

He said they might call this weekend which is March 30 ,31 or April 1st.

Love to hear about your son's letters also. Praying for us all for comfort and peace as we wait for calls and letters and PIR!!

Yea, I am so glad to talk to you.  I cried too, when I got the letter yesterday, still  not as bad as when I got the box.....lol

When are you going up to graduation, we are leaving on thursday the 3rd,  I will look for you on live chat

brenda

Ho hum. Still no letter today. You don't suppose he didn't write, do you? Oh well, maybe I will get a phone call.  I enjoy reading about everyone else's letters.  Please let us all know if anyone gets a phone call!

I received insurance papers for safe keeping from my son today.  No note included.  The postmark was March 26th same day as the other letters that I received yesterday.  Hang in there ladies, hopefully you will get a letter tomorrow.  :)

Ok got THE first letter. It seems he has made friends with a guy from New Hampshire who loves country music, one who is from COLO with birthdate apr 13 day before my sons and then a J M who is the funniest guy there! he told me that his friends will help each other and keep each other distracted from all the stress. They must  be great guys!

He hates saving and showering with 60 other guys....now that is gross! He hates not having a real mattress and sitting not crossing his leg!

Misses music, dogs and looking at someone in the eye and not getting yelled at.....what is up with that, getting yelled at as you look at someone in their eyes????

Sounded must better by the end of the letter that he journaled from day one til they mailed them last Sun. He is going to church, the contemporary service. He said food is not great but there is a lot of it and yes ice cream on Sundays.

IF any of the boys sound like your sons please send me a message so we can talk more.

Thank is my son, he is from colo and his birthday is april 13, he loves country music etc.  WOW this is sooo cool, cannot wait to met you too.  My son will be 20 on this next bday.  my son also mentioned someone from New Hampshire, this is so nice they have each other, and I love hearing about your letters they match what I am hearing.  and our boys are together!  There are some who have gotten phone calls starting today Friday, I hope we get one this weekend,  Miss is sooo much.  If you want to right through the email on here we can.  I think I already friended you.  So glad to met you

Brenda

Ok, so my daughter came home from college for the weekend and brought in the mail.  (My other daughter had already brought in the mail today.)  There were two letters from my SR!  Oh Happy Day!

The first one was three pages, and he had gotten three letters from us Saturday (March 24) night, which made him tear up a little.  (Which of course made me tear up a little to read that.)  Since I had to read the letters aloud to all the kids, I didn't get a chance to read them alone, and I didn't cry...yet.  I still expect to.  He said he hasn't made any friends yet, and he is trying to lie low.

He's heard more cussing than he's heard in his entire life. He said on Friday, March 23, it was day 1-3.  He said they wake up around 4:30-5:30 every morning and go to sleep around 8-8:30.  He was to have his wisdom teeth removed on Monday (3/26) and was really nervous.

They told him that since he has dive prep there (at GL) that it is very likely that he'll probably only have like 3 hours of liberty at graduation. Then he said "but keep praying, maybe not". So this mom is praying!

He said on Sundays and after the fourth week on Tuesdays and Thursdays they'll have time to write letters.

He said to write as many letters as humanly possible.

I hope everyone else gets letters too!

Greetings Ship 4 Div 811...we received our letter yesterday.  It was really good to hear from him, especially since he started the letter with I love you and I miss you hope all is well.  Choked us up for awhile....the letter was short, asking for school and sports updates from his brother and letting me know he was doing fine.  Said there is a lot of marching and yelling but it is all good.  Of course we have been sending the updates he has asked for so hopefully they are getting letters by now.  I'm going to ask himif there are any recruits not getting letters in our division.  It seems there are a few in other divisions that have no one to call or write.  If anyone hears of an SR please post an address so we can send encouraging words.  It breaks my heart to think there may be a young man on his way to be a sailor and no one keeping in touch.    Thanks!

Hi pjay!  I made our plane reservations...coming in on Thursday morning and leaving midday on Sunday.  I dont think my SR will be getting more liberty than Friday and maybe some time on Saturday at the airport.  Havent heard if the boys are together or how the 3 amigos are doing.  Has your SR mentioned if Zach is in their group?  Would love to send him a note. Hope you are doing well.

Addy:  I'm so happy you got a letter!  I've been praying you would!

I got a letter from American Red Cross with information filled out by my son on a little card in the letter.  Does anyone know if I am supposed to do anything with that card or just keep it?

By my count there are only 10 of us on here from division 811.  I'm going to let my son know to spread the word to the others to let their families know about this site because it's been such a huge blessing to me. I'm not even sure if he's talking to anyone else.  He's a little shy, and he said he's trying to keep a low profile because he doesn't want to be singled out for anything.

Hi guess our son's are all in the  same boat !  LOL  !  My son is Alex and were from Spokane Washington.  We have gotten letters but no phone calls as of yet !  Hoping for one on Easter !!!  Says he's sick of standing on his feet but the food is yummy but he wants to quit and come home  everyday !
