Hi everyone,

I have an idea in mind for a really cool book,  as you can tell by my nickname I am an artist and I decided I'm going to do a series of paintings on the whole boot camp experience.  RTC has kindly allowed me to use their photos as reference for this, so here are my first 2.  the firefighting one isnt quite done.

When I'm done with 20 or so, I'm going to publish them in a book on Blurb for my SR......What I'd like to do is insert quotes or images of actual letters that perhaps mention the aspect of training I have painted or just some of the funny things they say or even the touching things....Please message me if you are willing to share an excerpt, scan, or photo of your letters.....Once it is published it will be viewable in it's entirety for everyone online....so obviously for security purposes the real names will be blurred or omitted.

and If anyone has a cool book title idea, let me know....all I can think of is Letters from Boot Camp and that sounds boring to me.

maybe Letters to Mom?

anyway, let me know what you think!

How about....The passage from land to Sea ?  OR.... The making of a Sailor

I think it's a cool idea you have and since you are including artwork from the expeience I thought the title should embrace the whole experience, not just about the letters, somehow tie them all together. Good luck and I can't wait to see more of your paintings, great work.

I like the making of a sailor!!  I hope RTC posts some of the pics from when they first get there so it can be a start to finish kind of thing......

Girl you are something else love the JPG. I will consider your offer..Let me think about it. I wish I could paint.

Making of a Sailor does have a nice ring to it.

The pictures are great.  You have great talent.

I agree, I like the making of a sailor!

good idea!  I love the I'm here phone calls, they look so scared,  and some of the hair cut ones are pretty  great too!

I was lookin at your page and see you live in Findlay my brother lives there too. Small town maybe you know each other.

What an amazing Idea...... I will participate for sure. be on the look out for a message :)

WOW beautiful talent! I would be honored to participate!

I'm so glad I'm getting some positive responses, I feel like I want so much of what we are going through to be written down for posterity and sometimes on the internet with messages and chat, it gets lost and I wish I could grab it back....so feel free to share anything, whether it be quotes or messages from other moms or excerpts from your SR....I would love to be able to show the process of boot camp from the loved one's perspective while at the same time showing what RTC can provide through their own unique perspective that I can translate to art... and the recruits own responses and voices while they are there....  What I love about Blurb is that the book can be viewed and shared in it's entirety so all of you can see it at no charge or expense...If you choose to share something, please private message me and let me know what you would like included....I hope to have it finished by mid May.  The painting I am currently working on is one of the Flags division.....It focuses more on some of the female members.....I hope to try to get as many different divisions as I can into it either through the paintings or the responses so give me all your suggestions.....I think this mission has given me a cause to get through the next 4 weeks.

Not that I am prejudice are anything, but love the flag division idea!!  My daughter is carrying a division 924 award flag!! I am not sure how to PM you? I sent a friend request.
