Boot Camp Mom's Prayer

God bless my recruit as he meets this day

I pray that he has the strength to find his way

As reveley wakes him so loud and clear

I pray your love will lead him, and he will show no fear

If there's danger and if there's strife

Please send Angels to guard his life

Keep him safe and hold him near

Bless my recruit, I hold him dear

Until he moves on to PIR day

Bring peace to our hearts

And strength to our faith

(Many thanks to our own 'teeny' for sharing!)

NavyBlue, they do not have internet in the room, but they can get a signal by the windows in the TV room. I would be talking to my son and he would have to go because a spot opened up by the window. lol

As far as I know, only officers are allowed to have cars in GL. They are the only ones who can drive to Coronado. There has been quite a bit of discussion on how to get cars out to SD.

Good lord! What a schedule! Thank you sjtina for this info.

NavyBlue my son told me pretty much the same thing about two weeks off but he told me it was between per-BUDs and BUDs. I was really looking forward to having him home for a little bit.

Chrisian's Mom let me know if you get any names of recruits who are not getting mail. I would be happy to write.

Christian's Mom, I love your generous heart.   Can't wait to meet you!   I'll join with sjtina in writing anyone you know of who needs a letter.

Knowing what to do is overwhelming it makes me feel like I have a life line in you sjtina.   I'm so grateful for you and your voice on this site.

Medial leave means that your son can come back to the program when he's better......right?

NavyBlue, my son was medically dropped. He was getting severe headaches during drownproofing in PreBuds. It had to do with the pressure of inhaling and exhaling while bobbing up in down in the pool. I think it also had something to do with a sinus infection that would not quit. He can go back and try again in 2 years from being dropped. I believe that is still his plan.

I hope he gets another chance, if that's what he wants.  I'm sure he's a great guy.

Its nice having a others on the same timeline to follow. Its a long road and forming friendships early on does help. I think you will be joining the 5/11 PIR as a class. I am guessing this will be Class 2 9 7.

Chris's mom I would love to join you and sjtina and navyblue in writting to the fellows who are not receiving mail. I never thought there might be some guys who never get mail. I have written to my son every single day since he left. I miss him so much it hurts!

Sjtina you live the next town over from me. What a small world. I live in Marlton. I would love to meet you someday. I can't thank you enough for all the info you have posted on this site. It has really helped.

yayyyy a Jersey girl. I don't find many South Jersey moms son here. I would love to get together sometime. Do you belong to the Jersey Mom group. They have get togethers once in awhile, but so far not in our area. I did meet a mom from Cherry Hill at the Army Navy game 2 years ago. Small world indeed.

Has anybody made hotel reservations?

I booked flights tonight for me, hubby and my 85 year old Mother who says she's coming if she has to crawl. lol     It's funny how Grandmother didn't want him to join but now that he's in she couldn't be more proud of her sailor.

Hi NavyBlue,

Yep, I have.  Navy Lodge at Great Lakes.  $66 per night.  Haven't book a flight yet - waiting until later this week.

Hello fellow Moms,

I also would love to write to any sailors in need of letters. I am a teacher and can have 50 letters ready to deliver in a day. :) My students would love to write.  As a matter of fact, I think I'll get my students writing tomorrow. I suppose a letter to  "any SR" in Ship 04 Div 813 would work.  I'm on it ladies.
