I too got a phone call!!! He said that he is doing okay and sharedhow it is going at this point. He wasn't big on names tho'....he did say that they are starting to gel and he was glad of that. He said that the other guys are helping him on stuff and he is very grateful. He's got some other duties so there are times that he doesn't feel that he can get everything squared away like he would like. He said that there is a lot of studying to do.

Told him again about this website(we looked at it before he left) and how much I get to find out info so that I can stay in touch with what is happening for him -sorta. Asked him to tell other recruits so we can meet more people from this div.

I got a call also from my son. His was a business call mainly. Information needed for security check. He did request stationary ,but said it should be a small package. Anyone sent stationary to their SR? If so how large can the package be? He said keep it small, but no time to explain. Any suggestions? Thanks

Are more of you getting a call that has to do with the security clearance? For this div it would certainly be necessary. Anyone know how this occurs and what info is required?

I got two letters yesterday!  Just wondering if anyone else did. He said he's constantly tired and exhausted, especially since they started PT twice a day. He says he can see insanely better in the glasses he was issued, and they are the newer cool version. He said they do a lot of cleaning, and they wake themselves up before the RDC's get there so they don't have to wake them up with trash can lids. He said some Navy divers who are stationed in San Diego came to visit their division to tell them about the job and answer questions.  They gave them a "sweet Navy diver flag" for their division to march with.  He said they finished phase 1 out of 3, and they are sending letters out like 2-3 times a week now. (Which for him just means he can write a few lines several times a week now, not actually send that often). He said the division was struggling and lost mail and 4th meal privileges the other night.

Boot camp is getting mentally easier and the RDC's are relaxing a bit. He said there is a good group of guys going for diver so they will have a good study group going in prep and A-school.  He said they all passed test 1, and they got their dog tags on Friday, March 30.

On Sunday, April 1, one of their RDC's told them they'd get a phone call that day and a trip to the NEX, but it was an April Fool's Joke.  (Mean) He said they've been hearing rumors about divisions getting ice cream socials where an RDC comes into your compartment and I.T. you until they finish off a tub of ice cream. He says IT's are getting less frequent.

He says it's funny I'm asking questions in my letters that he has no idea about then a couple days later he will find out what I mean.  (Thanks Navy 4 Moms!) He says we should go to the church service with him when we get there if we can.  Does anyone know if we can??

I'd love to hear details from everyone else's letters!

I wish my boyfriend was in this division, so then it would get him more prepared for his A school, His contract is for ATF/AIRC but his jobs given were all AIRC/AIRR. But he is in 900 division for being in ROTC in High School.
Does anyone else's SR not have a source rating yet for the aircrew program?!

I was reading through your posts and most of you all are EOD, just hoping there is a few AIRC/AIRR people out there. lol.

AIRR here ...but doesn't sound like bf wants that?

Im glad you are getting all the info, because i'm not! Mine is not writing much but then he does have me to write and his father.

Mine is telling me that he has to iron and clean or write. So I have told him to take care of what he needs to do....may be I should have told him to write.

He did say he is adjusting more and really has not gotten yelled at for anything so that was a huge plus in his book.

I have heard we can do church with them. My son goes to the contemporary christian service. He said it starts at 9am. We are planning on going with him.

Still don't know about how much time we get with him but even a few hours a day is much better than nothing.

hurrah-another AIRR! Lucky you -lots of letters! You will find that we all savor any news that we can get out our SRs in the div. so share what you can.  :-)

As a security precaution-you  should change your sign in name or at least remove the last name.Do read the opsec guidelines if you haven't already. You don't want to endanger your SR.

I got an unexpected letter on Monday.  He wrote it on Tuesday, the day they got to call home.  He said he was trying not to cry the whole time we were talking.  He also said, "All the guys are happier now," (since the phone calls) and "The RDC's don't really care about our mail unless it's in a huge envelope or package." (I had asked if they take away pics or copy-and-pasted news articles.)

He said on last Wednesday (3-1 day) they got new hair cuts, and they all look like jar heads now.  (Some movie I guess?)

He said he will try to write more, but that he loses sleep when he does write, and that he would write a longer letter on Sunday.  I'm so pleased with him for answering my many questions so thoroughly!

"jar heads" is the loving term for the style of hair cut that the Marines usually get. A little hair on top and not much on the side.

Because of this website, doesn't it help to know what questions to ask too?

It does help!  I was wondering if most of the calls home for security clearance questions are from EOD or Air Rescue guys.  I haven't heard diver moms mentioning calls home for this... Anyone know? I'd love to hear his voice again.

I think that the calls apply to anyone in spec ops. I have noticed that they all do not seem to be doing the call at the same time. Maybe to give security time to follow up?
