Would love to chat with other moms who have a son or daughter in this ship/division!  My son left for boot camp on 3/12.

Well...we are in the same boat having missed our SR Daughter's call!  We are overseas in Germany and she called our room and cell phone.  We could kick ourselves!  She was crying, but said she was ok and just missing us.  Sounded fine, just sentimental.  I guess it will be a while before we hear from her again.  This is week number four; almost half way through!  :-)

Awwwwww... that sucks SchwaebischDame!  Can't believe I was available when my SR called, it was during my work hours. But when I saw the area code there was NOTHING going to stop me from answering it!!  Had he called while I was asleep ... that would have been a different story.  For starters, I would have never heard the phone ring to begin with!!  My son is VERY homesick too...it's so obvious.  Hope they find a way to overcome that.

Please pray for our SR Jasmin!  We missed her call, but this also was to say she has a medical evaluation today with an asthma doctor.  We are so upset that we missed her call and know this is quite stressful for her!  She called and talked to one of our extended family...who told us this news.  Of course, we worry...knowing there is no means to reach her at this point.  Does not help being overseas in Europe.  We cannot influence anything, but can only keep her in our prayers.  She is in the Lord's care!

I am so sorry to hear that.  I will pray for her. My son sounded sicker than I've ever heard him. I think something really bad is going around in their division.  He said he has been so sick with a cold that his ears were hurting and he finally had to get some medical treatment.  That is highly unusual for my SR.  I hope you get another call where you can speak with her - I'm sure hearing mom's voice will bring her comfort, and comfort you as well.

Thank you for your kind words!  She is up now with her Team.  We pray this will go well!

Yayyy!  See the prayers are working!

Got more letters today!! Yayyy.

my son sounded really sick when we talked to him last Tuesday and he never gets sick.  Hope they are all on the mends! Got a letter yesterday:) Said he was chosen to be a Yeoman and is really busy from "1800-2100" with that postion so he has very little time to write now.  He sounded good and seems to have adjusted well so far.  We still do not know why he didn't get his phone call the other day, but am sure glad one of his friends callled to let us know so that we weren't waiting and worrying all day.  Still hoping for a phone call soon:)  Praying all your SR's are doing well! Sounds like they are all in a great group:)

We heard from our SR daughter.  We are so happy!  She is being evaluated for a medical waiver, but they will retest her lung function soon.  Wanted her to use an inhaler, but she did not need to use it.  The Corpsman thought she had pneumonia, but the LT (doctor) said she did not...so she is taking this path now.  We were beside ourselves waiting (her overseas) to hear what was going on.  She called at 0330 hrs (European time) this morning.  Thought it was a wake up call...only better!  She said there have been a lot of sick SRs.  They lost 4 to 5 so far.  One made a racial slur and was sent back to a group earlier in the training.  Fitted them for dress uniforms...which is another milestone.  She told them she wants to be there and continues to look after everyone as the Educational Petty Officer.  Thanks to all for the prayers!  Still must pass the running, but they had her on limited duty status for a while.  As soon as the doctor said no pneumonia she went out to do physical training.  Happy Easter to all of you!  Our Lord is Risen Indeed!

Well, it sounds like all of the SRs are having issues with being sick. Hope they all get better soon. I received a letter yesterday too. He said he had to have his wisdom teeth pulled on 3/26 and that they made him stay in bed for a full day.  Before he left for boot camp he wrote across his bedroom mirror in big black letters this quote:  "A ship in the harbor is safe, but that is not what a ship is built for". He said that the ship they are on now was named after a female Admiral who was famous for quoting that quote.  So everyday when he walks through the passageway he sees a picture of her with that quote underneath it.  He thought that was really neat because he was constantly quoting that quote.

Are any of you ladies planning to attend one of the Meet & Greets?  If so, which Meet & Greet?  I'd like to meet all of you!

My husband and I "hope" to attend a meet and greet!  We are confident in her ability to hang in there and stay true!  We fly back from Germany tomorrow getting home to VA Easter Sunday morning.
