I have finally heard from my boyfriend which was very exciting. I don't know for sure if he will call me though. He said he might, but really does that ever happen? I also was sadden to hear that after graudation I won't get to spend much time with him since he is being sent to Pensicola the next day after graduation. Is there any way that could chance? Please someone say yes. I have been planning to stay out in Great Lakes, but I guess that won't be a possibility if he leaves right away. I guess I just miss him so much that I would like a little time with him before he leaves again:(

Great that you heard from him. Was it a letter? Usually they get to call about 3-4 weeks in. What is his grad date? There is a PIR group for you to join that will offer you lots of support and info
Yeah it was a couple of letters actaully:) He did say he might get a call today so I am hoping that he will:) His grad date is May 11th. What PIR group? I would love to join:)
Sorry, he will almost certainly be a Saturday departure.
Yeah I thought that would be the answer:( Well I hope that I can visit him in Pensicola then.
Q.
How much weekend liberty will my recruit receive?
A.
+/-
Recruits staying in Great Lakes for their A School will check in right after graduation. That check-in process can take up to five hours. You may wait at the visitors center/museum on the main base. Your recruit will call you when they are ready to be picked up. They will find out their exact liberty hours after they have checked into their school.
If your recruit will be attending A School out of state, they will fly out the day following graduation. There may be a delay if there is a flight availability issue but only your recruits is permitted to give you their exact flight/departure information. Their graduation day liberty hours will be determined by each divisions’ Recruit Division Commanders.
Dont forget to meet him at the airport. Get what time you can there too
We can go to airport? That would be great. I think my bf leaves at 2am though so IDK if I will get a chance to go to airport at that time.
They do have to go early. However some have to wait hours for their flight. Yes you can go. Check at the ticket counter or the OSU office. Get a pass to go to the boarding gate and wait with them. That is also where you give them their cell and laptops.
Just in case I can't make it to the airport, would I be able to give him his cellphone on Graduation day since he is leaving the next day?

My son had PIR on last Friday, 04/06. He was suppose to fly out at 5:30am on Saturday but that got changed to 7:00pm on Sunday. Not sure if it was because it was Easter weekend or not. They were taken to the airport at 12:30 Sat. night and didn't fly out until 7:00 pm on Sunday so we were able to spend all day Sat. with him and took his cell phone, laptop etc to him at the airport Sunday morning. We got the pass so we had breakfast and spent another couple hours with him at the airport. He and a bunch of the Sailors that were flying out with him on Sunday night were able to go into Chicago that Sunday so we left for our 6 hour drive home. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that you probably won't know for sure how the weekend will go until you get there. I kept reading on NFM that things change frequently at the last minute in the Navy so I wasn't surprised and had planned for the possibility of him not flying out until later. Hope this helps. By the way, he was heading to Pensicola.
