Hi, I'm Courtney! I'll be leaving to head to Great Lakes on May 1. My rate is EN and I am married. I was wondering about some of the best places to try and get stationed after A-School. I have heard that since I am married then going overseas won't be an option for me and my spouse right out of A-school. Is this true? If it is true what are some nice state side places to request? Also if my husband wouldn't be joining me overseas right away would the navy be willing to send just me (he would pay his own way to move after making sure his business is being run properly with out having to come back for about six months)?

BQB, I checked with a dentist and he said that the average recovery time for pulling wisdom teeth is 3 days when there are no complications   Well, that fits with the practice at the RTC--2 days SIQ and at least 1 day of light duty. I remember when I had all four of mine removed, I had them removed on a Friday and spent that day and Sautrday in bed and was at church on Sunday and back at college on Monday.  That was several years ago, so I don't remember more than that.  I agree it is a decision for the Future Sailor to make.

supernavymommy, As far as Ronny and Anna, they did not say anything about infection earlier in this discussion.  I checked to see if they had posted anywhere else on this subject and did not find it, so that does not appear to be a good defense for your argumant of infection. Complications do happen sometimes and when they do occur at the RTC, the  are taken care of.  Like I said, this is something we will just have to agree to disagree on.

Lemon, you are correct.  I never said anything about infection.  He said that he now officially hates the dentist...LOL... but he said that he had 2 days of bed rest and 1 day of light duty.  But never any infection.  Just thought I would clear that all up....LMAO.... Now I sure hope that we all have a great day and a great weekend....

:o)

Hi all...  Just wanted to let you all know about a great program for Recruits.  CallsforRecruits.org has FREE phone cards for recruits in bootcamp.  If you or someone you know is leaving soon for bootcamp, go to the website and get some phone cards for them to use while they are at BC.  They can use them at A school or anytime if they need them, although most people have cell phones these days LOL.  Just thought I would pass along the info....

I can see N4M has become a refuge for a bunch of screwballs. NOBODY sleeps around here!  It's 2:49 AM PST.

Night night.

navygurl413, I'm sure you never dreamed that this discussion would morph into all that.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend and that our Future Sailors, Recruits, and Sailors are safe and well.

navygurl413; I agree with lemonelephant. The topic of your post went way "overboard" LOL

From what you have posted I feel you will do very well in whatever rate you choose with the Navy. Good luck, and thank you for choosing to serve our country.

LOL not one bit, it is kind of interesting and exciting though. I have been showing my mom the thread. I am trying to get he to become involved with the site.

We know navygurl413 is going to be OK. She's got a good head on those shoulders. Me, I have 3 wisdom teeth left - they are staying put - I would only have them out if I could convalesce for a minimum of 10 days.

Bunker, do you think we could do that in a warm climate? I'm in Seattle, and it's just now starting to warm up! Oh, I just remembered, I don't have any of my wisdom teeth. And NO, they were not pulled at RTC either!

navygurl413, you will be able to do whatever you want to do in life and with the Navy. Congrats again!

Thanks!!! I am about to be 24 on Friday and none of my wisdom teeth have grown in yet. I do think that I will have to have a cavity filled but I'm not worried.

God almighty, all this talk about wisdom teeth has given me a royal toothache. :P

How are you guys?  Your mom is going to love it here. You'll have a hard time getting her off after she gets going on this site.  navygurl413, have you read the Survival Guide?  If you have, any suggestions on making it better?
