Now that only 24 days remain before PIR, I've started thinking about the next phase -- Nuke school in Charleston. Does anyone else have a sailor headed there? Have they picked their specialty?

Well you know I do, but I will reply anyway.
He will be EM.
I have joined the Nuke Moms group. I don't participate yet, but I read what comes through. I am starting to get a sense of things from what everyone writes.
Ditto for me too Jill...
I also belong to the nuke page, but was so overwhelmed by the bc stuff that I had to chill from the nuke one for a bit. :) Guess it is time to get plugged back in since we are 24 days away---whoop, whoop!
I don't know what he will be yet. Shoot, he hasn't told me yet. He should know by now right?
My daughter is a Nuke headed for Charleston. She hasn't decided on a specialty yet.
I heard that no women enlisted sailors are permitted on subs, so I guess she's going on a carrier? My son was thinking sub before boot camp, but now that he has lived with all these people every minute of every day (and he's kind of a loner), I think he might not be totally happy on a sub! - Jill
She has wanted to be on a carrier from day one! It will be interesting to see what your son decides. :)

There are other Nuke groups on here as well, http://www.navyformoms.com/groups/group/search?q=nuke+charleston Look through the groups in the above link as there are several more.

Um so after some discussion with my division ladies, I should have written he WANTS to be EM. Hoping he'll tell me in a letter what he got.
He was also not wanting to be on a sub. I think some of them might change their mind based on money or find out it really doesn't bother them, and I am sure some will find out the opposite!
And yep, no girls on subs.
