Hi everyone! My daughter is a SR on Ship 12/Div 154. We have received the general info letter and then a wonderful two page, back and front, letter from her on Friday!! What a gift!! So glad to finally have some contact. We have been sending 3-4 letters per week, but it sounds like many of you are sending much more than that. Guess I better get busy!! LOL

We too were hoping for a phone call yesterday (Easter), so were disappointed when it didn't come. Hopefully this week??

We are starting to make plans for our trip in May, so excited!!

Hope to make some friends and stay up to date, so look forward to talking with you all. Hope you have a great week!!

Hi, Good to hear from you.  I was hoping from a call yesterday also, but I guess no news is good news.  I've already made plans at the Ramada Inn. Are going to any of the meet and greets, a few of us are planning to go the Sarge Meet and Greet, My daughter is in the same division.  Last week, I got her letter on Wednesday, I am hoping for the same this week.

What are the meet and greets and when do they happen? I don't know anything about it? Thanks!

Thank you thank you for this. I think we will attend sarge's too!

Welcome legefamily4.  I still haven't received a letter from my daughter other than the form letter. Since you have received a letter from your SR, I know they have been able to write. I have a feeling our crappy post office struck again! They are notorious about misboxing mail. I thought for sure there would be a letter today but nothing in the box. Unfortunately, not everyone is good about turning in misboxed mail, though you would think a person would know a mother is waiting on that type of mail and would hand it back to be reboxed.  If I haven't received anything by Wednesday, I will have to have a conversation with the postmaster.

I also will be attending Sarge's meet & greet. We are staying at the Ramada Inn Waukegan. Where are you from? We live in the Houston area.

Hi Sharpmom-

I am so sorry you don't have a letter yet. I HATE post office issues too. She wrote on April 1st, so I am sure you will get something this week.

My husband and I live in NC, but are actually from TX. Our daughter shipped out from San Antonio. My parents and my husbands parents all live in Houston (Spring and Lake Jackson), and that is where we met each other in high school (HSPVA) and married at a church in Clear Lake. What area do you live in?

I wonder if our daughters know each other?

We actually live in Dayton, TX. My husband grew up in Pasadena. I am originally from Oklahoma and met my husband there. We moved back to this area 12 1/2 years ago. Been here long enough to feel like a native Texan. lol.

I hope our daughters know each other and are friends. That would be really great. I have definitely made some friends on this site. It is amazing how close you can become when you are dealing with the same issues. I certainly hope we will be able to meet when we go to PIR. I am SOO looking forward to that day.

I checked with her friends to see if any of them have received anything from her. They haven't either. I'm sure she doesn't have time to write to very many people and hope she will make mom & dad number 1 on that short list. I think I will be able to breathe easier once I start getting mail from her. Sent off a card to her today. Am getting ready to write another letter to mail to her tomorrow. Hope she has atleast started getting her mail so she doesn't think we forgot about her.

I need to go back to work tomorrow so I can keep myself busy during the day

. I have enjoyed the 4 day weekend but have spent too much of it obsessing over hearing from Rachel.

Well, mark another day without a letter from my SR. I am really beginning to think our local post office screwed up and misboxed the letter. Hopefully if she was able to write on Sunday I will have one Thursday or Friday. Atleast no mommy melt down this time! lol

How was everyone else's day today? I just applied for a school nurse position at the new Jr. High in the district I work for. The principal that I have been working with for the past 5 years is going to be the principal at the new Jr. High and I would prefer to move with him. He wants me to go to the new school also, so should just be a technicality on the application process. Wish me luck!

I have not gotten a letter from my SR either... My SR has the same PIR date of 5/18 and is on Ship 12 Div 153... I know he would write just as soon as he could... So I keep wondering y some have gotten letter and others still have not gotten one...

ACWOLF, looks like we are in the same situation! I still don't have anything today. How about you?  Looks like we will just have to keep each other going.  Atleast I haven't received a phone call saying something is wrong, so that is a positive.  I keep telling myself that "no news is good news" but it gets harder every day that I don't get a letter.  Hopefully we will have something tomorrow or Friday. I have started trying to send something to her every day to keep her spirits up and keep her going. We also have friends sending letters/cards to her.

I am so glad to have the support of other mom's going through the same things I am. I look forward to meeting as many as possible at the Meet & Greet and PIR.
