Boot Camp Mom's Prayer

God bless my recruit as he meets this day

I pray that he has the strength to find his way

As reveley wakes him so loud and clear

I pray your love will lead him, and he will show no fear

If there's danger and if there's strife

Please send Angels to guard his life

Keep him safe and hold him near

Bless my recruit, I hold him dear

Until he moves on to PIR day

Bring peace to our hearts

And strength to our faith

(Many thanks to our own 'teeny' for sharing!)

Tomorrow is Thursday :) Mail day ??? I'm hoping.

I am too Matt'sMom (hoping for mail tomorrow)!

By the way, if you're on FaceBook-- the RTC has posted new random pictures-- didn't see any comments or anything in the photos to suggest that Div 813 was in them but you never know :)

got a phone call today from my sr.  he said its going good but he misses everyone.  He sounded really good but only had 2 minutes to talk.

Hi, I just found this site. My son is also in ship 4 div 813, and he just called.Yay!  Great timing as my son, his twin, was home and my husband just walked in from work. So we had a fantastic conference call. He sounds tired, but I'm just so happy to hear his voice. I can't wait to see him on 5/18.

Just got a call from my SR and we got to talk for about 15 minutes AND a I got a letter today!! I feel like I won the Lotto!  Here are some things he said that ya'll may want to know:

  • He said things were going a lot better for everyone and that they are on week 3 as of today.
  • They still don't have division colors/flags yet (he said they are still working on it).
  • He said that there is one SR who is not getting any mail-- he will let me know who that is and I will let someone know (or mail him myself but would welcome anyone else who wants to participate!).
  • He also said that there are about 75 people left (some are medical and some are academic 'drops').
  • The meals are good (DIV 813 gets 4 meals/day).
  • He said that "we have the hardest RDC's at basic and we run every where! We ran 6 miles the other day and I think we sprinted half of it!"
  • He said that they are receiving mail daily but are not allowed to send except once a week.
  • He thinks that they MAY also be allowed to call this Saturday but doesn't know that for sure and didn't know what time or if everyone would get to call home.
  • He said that the Division 'earned' the right to call today based on their overall academic performance (they had a cumulative avg of 4.6-- but I don't know 'out of what' or for what).
  • He also said that they're doing good with 'division flags"
  • He said everyone is congested (sinus, upper respiratory congestion)-- they get Sudafed, cough drops and sent on their way.

I was THRILLED to see the # on the caller ID come up and had just gotten done reading the letter that he sent. Perhaps a 'wack-a-do' I was not even tempted to cry during or after the call-- instead I was and am simply proud and absolutely cannot wait to see him at PIR!!!

Sounds like they are pulling together as a team. At one point they will be dropped off in the next town and told to find their way back.

auburn mom.  that is exactly what my sr said to. he said he misses everyone to.  I didntcry either was just happy to hear his voice.  i only got to talk for 2 minutes but it was a happy 2 minutes.

he also said that they would be able to write 2 times a week now.

Now that the letters and phone calls are starting to come in. I would like to pay something forward and please, please do not take it personal. In the next few weeks the RDCs will start reading this discussion. They will try really hard to match you with your son and read your comments out loud. I have been amazed how well they do their research. I am not sure what the purpose is, but they do it with every 800 division.

Please do not feel as if you should stop posting, just post comments that are general. You are all doing a great job and its good to have this circle of support. You are going to be together for quite awhile. If anyone needs help making your page private to friends only, let me know. Its a good place to start.

They also read Facebook

sjtina.. I've taken your suggestions to heart and changed my settings. While I've not said or done anything I believe would be embarrassing, I don't want to necessarily make things harder than they have to be either. So I appreciate your advice, support and 'foreshadowing.'  :)

Hi, I am very new to using a site like this so I don't know all the ins and outs at all. I don't facebook, or tweet or any of that stuff. You said to make your page private to friends only, how do I do that? Do you think I should change my id and use something without his name in it, and if so, how do I change that? Thank you,
