Just sent a copy of the N4M questionnaire found in the dicussion form to my son. I know it will not only make him smile but I can get the 411 about the division and his experience. I know my son does not like to give a great deal of detail, so the questionnaire should help. Really soon to ask but has anyone heard from their recruit other than the form letter? Recognizing that they are extremely busy, I look forward to hearing from them.

I  have missed a questionaire? What is it and where do I print it from?

I am so glad I found this group, it is really helping me, knowing others are having the same emotions I am.

Vicki, go to the main 6/1/12 PIR page and under Discussions there is one titled "Boot Camp Questionnaires".  There are links to many different ones!

I found some questionnaires while perusing some of the other forums (I'm totally addicted to this website)...they are attached, and you'll probably need to tweak some of the questions. But it'll give you a start! I plan to send one of these to my son this week. Some of the questions are hilarious and I can't wait to see how he answers them!

Hello all! I'm very excited finally know the date, like everyone else.....lol! I am from NM, any other mothers out there?

We received our letter as well and are making travel also. we are very excited but where is ship 11?? does anyone know ? this and other sites have really help so much and HALMARK has the best military cards to send them while we can now.this is my grandson and am so proud.. His mom was so sad and this site is now her passion.

Ship 11 (like all other "ships" in boot camp is just the number of the barracks they are staying in at the boot camp portion of the base. The ship and div numbers must be included in the address but there should also be a street address attached to this info in your form letter. I have a picture of the base (map) that I downloaded but cannot remember where I got it from I will try to figure that out so I can direct you.

Iris, thank you for the tip on Hallmark cards.  I have been writing every other day so sending a card will be a great change.  I have to agree, this site has been my passion as well.

your very welcome.I try to send at least 2 cards a day.If you go to any discount store you find them for 2 for $1.00 and we spend that on any other nonsence so why not a card actually 2 which will make their day.Right?

If any of you need Phone Cards for your SR...go to Calls for Recruits.org and get them for FREE....they send FREE Pre-Paid Phone Cards for Recruits in Boot Camp!!!

We got real letters from him today!!! Wow how amazing, he sounds so grown up, so strong and proud! He didnt share much about bootcamp life but did ask for a huge favor. He wants me to send a big bag of their petty officers favorite candy. He said they need to keep them happy. Is this a good idea? I've read here that they can't receive stuff other than letters, or is it ok to address it to the division petty officer, not my recruit? Im ready to send it today but I know they haven't received any mail yet so they don't know what can happen if they get stuff like that. Maybe I worry too much? :)

He's got a great sense of humor still, he joked that he'd send his new Navy Federal account info so he can borrow some money from me! LOL

Prayer and support to all our recruits! Hope you all get mail from GL soon.

Came home this evening to a pleasant surprise. A letter from my son- I had just mailed another letter to him. He sounded upbeat and was even excited that he was made Port Watch Section Leader! I smiled! He is not looking forward to having his wisdom teeth pulled but he seems to be adjusting just fine... I guess all those years of running my house like bootcamp paid off. :)
