praying for a phone call...or at least a letter today :'(
Hi, Reed's Mom: You must be so proud your son has been assigned a leadershp role! With leadership comes more responsibility, however, and from the guys I work with (all retired or active Army and Navy) the leaders often have to make the sacrifices because of the added responsibility, but also to be a role model to his section. His leadership will take note -- so if that's what's going on, at lest it's not in vain! One question, though -- are you divorced by any chance? I never got the form letter from my son - when I finally spoke with him Monday evening he let me know he'd sent it to my ex -- so that explains a lot (grrr).
yes, i am very proud of him...he's used to it tho...he excelled in JRNROTC in hi school...been to cadet officer leadership school...and he's went in as E2 ! he's always been very mature and ahead for his age...
and i got his form letter a good while back...and 3 letters last week.
..its just been me and my 3 boys for the past 6 and a half yrs...their dads not in the picture...
Hi Everyone! My daughter said I got a letter today and she read it to me! She's supposed to scan it and send it to me, so I can read it more carefully. He said he was on SIQ (sick in quarters) for 2 days. Had his 2 bottom wisdom teeth out. Said it wasn't too bad. Then he'd have 1 day of light duty then back to normal! He did say that 1 other guy had his wisdom teeth pulled at the same time as him, the others had them done the day before. I think he said like almost 1/2 the group had it done. Wow! He sounded much better about being there. Said the "talkers" are their divisions main problem. He doesn't understand why people who have just got punished (and gotten everyone else punished) continue to talk. He did say that some got pushed back (I'm assuming to another PIR date). He was giving it his all and thought the majority of them would be just fine. I'm assuming that their phone priviledges are part of the punishment for the "talkers" in the division. All in all it was a pretty good letter and he promised to write soon and call as soon as they were allowed!
So glad you received a letter from your son! When I spoke to my son on Saturday, 4/14/12 (he was given a 10 minute award call for giving someone the Heimlich) he said that he and one other guy were getting their wisdom teeth pulled on Monday. I wonder if that was your son and mine! My son said the same thing about the talkers. It is frustrating to the SR's that are following the rules since they all do get punished for the few that can't be quiet or stand still. I had not heard that some got pushed back. Hopefully, the talkers are gone now and the division can finally get their calls. I know there are a lot of Moms in this division that are anxiously awaiting those calls. Four weeks from today we'll be there waiting for the PIR! I cannot wait! Did you check out the picture on the US Navy Recruit site? I think picture #15 is division 155. The second to the last guy marching looks like my son, but I'm not 100% sure. Everyone in division 156 keeps saying that it is their division, but I'm pretty sure that 2nd to the last guy is my son. I've copied the picture and sent it to my son to ask him! Hope you're having a great day.
I am on cloud 9!!!!! I just got my second call from my SR. It was only a 7 minute call, but soooo good to hear his voice! He sounds tired, but still positive. He said that their division won a flag for scoring a 4.3, not sure for what though. He did say that 8 guys have been held back so far. He said he sent another letter that I should receive soon! Life is good! :) Hoping that some of the other Moms are getting their calls from their SR's tonight too! :)
I'm happy and sad! My son called our home in Florida and my daughter missed the call by 10 minutes! UGH!! He did leave a good message, so she will save it for me to hear later! She was heartbroken and so was I! I wish he'd called here!
Awe, I'm so sorry you missed the call. :(
Hi! It's on the facebook . It's the United States Navy Recruit Training Command page. They randomly post photos of different areas of training. I found a picture of my son running and others have found some of their SR's! Good luck!
Thank you so much! I'm going to see if I can find the one you girls were talking about. I'm so excited, Friday I rec'd 3 envelopes with several pages in each. He sounded so much better than his first letter. He also mentioned the talkers but said things are getting better and they are really coming together as a team. He sounded pretty good!!!
