Hey =)

I had started a discussion at another place, but figured this was a better spot for it.  I just wanted to start a place where we could all chat that our children were in the same group.

My name is Candy and my son is a 4th generation sailor on his dad's side. I am so proud of him. His father was in the Navy and I was Air Force. He did a little bit of college and decided that it wasn't for him. He is going to Mississippi for A school to be a SeeBee builder.

So glad I was told about this site.

Just got my sons letter and he said this was the first chance he had to write.  So hopefully, you got a letter by now or its coming to you shortly.

My son sent a letter today  Ship 7 division 164.  : )  Looking to make reservations for the PIR.  I do not think it too early and noted several area locales are having meet and greets on 5/31. I am interested in them. Also, I think that he only has until 10pm that night for liberty. Do people usually make reservations for the 3 nights?

My reservations are for Thurs and Friday night. I think it depends on when your SR ships out. Mine is going to Mississippi for school so will more than likely ship out on Sat. If he doesn't leave till Sunday we'll stay another night.

My SR is going to Groton. I thought he was going to ship out first thing Saturday morning but he sounded in his letter like he might possibly get a weekend liberty.  I am glad I made my flight for Saturday night.  His wife is driving up so will be able to spend some extra time with him if he is free all weekend.

Hi, My name is Jane, My son Nathan left for boot camp on 4/3/12.  PIR on June 1st, on ship 07, Div 163, miss him so much, got one letter (more like a paragraph) and only the I have arrived call, was hoping for a call today but maybe next Sunday.  His father was in the Navy, he is my second child, the oldest is away at school, the house is so quiet, notice it so much more on weekends.

Hi Jane, =)

I know what you are talking about. My youngest isn't much of a talker and is even more quiet now with his brother not here to talk to him. So it has gotten very quiet around here. I haven't gotten a phone call yet other than the 1st one. It's driving me nuts. lol. But hopefully they will be able to call next Sunday. I do know that they have to earn the right to call home. So if they screw up they aren't allowed. I am just glad that they are allowed to write. So at least I have some communication from him.

Can't wait till June 1st.. =)

Candy, your posts and responses are great.  Did you get a call , I received mine today, hope you got yours today or will so soon.  It was about fifteen minutes, how many more days till June 1st- HUG time, can't wait.  Your son looks tall, mine today said, yes they yell at me, but I am taller then most of them so at least when they yell at me they are not  "in my face" but "looking up at me"-:)  honestly started to doubt some of the other mom's on line that the call would help- it was amazing, I now feel like I can make it  six more Friday :)

I'm back!  God is GOOD!!

What happened to the link with the funny jokes and puzzle pages for our SR letters?

no idea. I can't find it either.

I got a call today and two letters. =)  It was a 15 min call. He says they are doing better at working as a team. He misses home alot but he's ready to become a Sailor. I hope you all got a call today too.

We got 2 letters and a phone call today!  Now I'm smiling.  It sounded so much like him.  He's glad that he's hanging in there.  He did mention that he misses us but, sorry, his video games more.  Nice to know he's got some humor.
