Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Our New Sailor's "Rate"- How to address your new Sailor at PIR! :)
When our SRs become Sailors, and graduate at PIR we want to make sure we address them properly. They have EARNED it! :)
Many of them will no longer be Seaman Recruits!
Some of our Sailors will have 2 or 3 stripes on the top of their left sleeve. The stripes may be white/black, red, green or blue.
Group Rate Marks
for
Pay Grades E-1 through E-3
Sailors in pay grades E-1 through E-3 are considered to be in apprenticeships. As they begin their path towards advancement to Petty Officer in a specific specialty, they begin in the appropriate "group".
For example, a Sailor who wishes to be an Electrician's Mate will begin in the Engineering/Hull group. The groups and the general rate marks (stripes) for E-1 through E-3 are shown here. (Note: E-1s do not wear any rate marks.)
These rate marks are shown (below) for the dress blue uniform. For whites, the background is white and the stripes are Navy blue.
Those who earn it through a training school [an "A" school] or by passing a Navy-wide examination will wear a rating insignia above the stripes.

If any of you do not know from the chart above, what your new Sailor's rate is, Please ask for help here. There are LOTS of Veteran members that will help you , so you can have that proud moment, and address your new Sailor by their proper rate.

I would like to know which rate my SR "belongs" to as I have seen this chart before and wasn't certain. He is going into AIRR.-air rescue and recovery. Do any of the vet moms know if that puts him in the air crew rate?
That might be a no-brainer but I have no brain at this hour.

THANK YOU! I was SOOOOO confused about all of this. Now I've got it!
Did have to google the FUBAR part. Now that I know what that is, I shoulda learned it along time ago when I was a gas pipeline construction superintendent! It would have saved me alot of time using the acronym instead of having to yell the actual words at some of the dummies I had working for me. LOL!
