Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I figure since divisions 159 and 161 were represented already, I'd add 160 ;)
It's hard to believe that it's been over a week since my brother left already. When I called my dad to give him my brother's address, he mentioned that when he took my brother out for his going away party, a Navy vet had come up and told him that he will gain a whole brotherhood/sisterhood while in the Navy, so that really makes me feel better. I'd love to meet the families of his new brothers and sisters!

So glad that he's doing fine. He made lots of great friends in their division. He said he passed the 1st written exam & swimming but have to retake running, he needs 20 seconds to make it. I'm sure he's gonna make it though. And I find it funny when i asked him if he was able to use the band aid i sent him in case he gets blisters from wearing boots & too much marching, he said nope because our RDC advised us to insert panty liners in our boots to prevent blisters. lol By the way, their RDC is a female. Very kind to them, they just have to do everything right otherwise she gets so mean. They're out to buy their basic items like toothpaste & etc. He had 20 mins privilege call but called me again for 4 min because his teammates aren't finished picking up their basic items @ NEX. Hope all of you guys hear from your SR too.

Yipee!!! I just got my phone call from my son. We talked for a good 20 minutes. As soon as I saw the "847" area code on my cell, I new it was him. I read somewhere on these blogs that they will call from an "847" area code.

Just wanted to let other moms know that we received two letters today from our son and when i got home from work tonight, i received a phone call!!! He sounds so good and it was wonderful to hear his voice. Sounds like they are exhausted and they are worked hard. He did say the food was pretty good!!! He has meet some great friends already. Has anyone else heard from their son/daughter?

He wants us to write him at least three times a week as he so enjoys getting mail. It means a lot to get mail so keep the letters coming. Just wrote another letter tonight!

You're welcome cbc mom. My son's call really made my day. He mentioned they were down to 70+ from 90+ headcount, can't remember exact number because i was just too excited talking to him majority of the 20+ came forward to quit. He said life @ BC is really HARD but he can deal with it. Told him to keep on praying for his safety. And guess what, cbc mom, remember i said when he left for BC, he said it's okay with him if i won't attend the PIR. Today he wants me to be there. Oh my...it made me cry harder. He said to keep OUR letters coming...our letters are like ice cream truck to them! (go go navy moms...let's write them more often)! Also the graduation pictures are expensive...he paid $300 for the basic package. After all, i believe our SRs are doing just great. Lucky for them to have a female RDC.
By the way, aside from the call today, my household got 3 letters from my SR, 2 for me and 1 for his younger brother. :)

Wow $300 for the photo package. I had read that pkg A was $140. If you buy the DVD, pkg A and some other 5x7 pic it all come to $174. I think I'll call the photo lab to inquire. My son said that after all the uniforms and misc items they've bought, there really is not much $$ left from their paycheck. :-(

Yes cbc mom. That was what I had read too...My son said he just got the basic package w/c is $300. Asked him does it come with a DVD otherwise I'll just pay for it..He confirmed it that it was $300. Maybe the thread we read about the pictures was not the current one. If you get a chance to cal the photo lab let me know, okay. Thanks.

I spoke to Bill at NEX Photographic Office and he confirmed what is out on the post from JessicaB-Sailor Mom regarding Photo/Keep/DVD.
Pkg A = $140 w/Keel
Pkg B = $120 no Keel
Keel by itself = $30
DVD = $29
5x7 casual photo of Division = $5
SRs can order extra pictures and oak frames which will add to the $174 price. Latest we can order DVD, etc is 1 week after PIR. Try and order everything early of have your SR pick up the pictures early. The line will be very long the day of PIR.

I'd also like to find out what the real cost will be so we can pitch in if necessary. I know my parents would probably like the DVD, but I know I want several copies of the pictures to frame.

What leadership role is your in in? My son is also in a leadership role. He is the Yeoman. Can't wait to see my son at PIR!!!! We're coming from California and plan on going to Sarge's Meet and Great.
