Again, I'm so glad you received a call from your son! My son will be going to Groton, CT after boot camp. He will also be on subs going Electronic Tech..... I'm from Southern Maryland, about 2 hours from Richmond!
Hi my son is also in Ship 11 Div 155. We have gotten the form letter address to MOM, and then 1 letters and 1 phone call on Wednesday night around 6 PM. He said that they were all coming down with colds and he sounded terrible on the phone but happy to be calling and appreciative of the letters he'd gotten. I got 3 I love you's in 1 call (a record). I'll start following this link now that I've found it. Other new was that they keep each other awake by coughing and sneezing at night in some odd code, but he felt they really lucked out in their commander and that they had one of the nicer ones.
My son is also going to Groton after BC for Subs and to be an ET/ Sonar man. were in Alexandria VA so not far from you. I'm excited for him and follow the schedule week by week to see what he will be doing. I figure NO CALL is that he's still in the Navy and not coming home. He wants this so much I hope he succeeds. No news is good news. No call is that he's still in the mix.
You're right, no news is good news! Yes, we are fairly close as I live in Waldorf, Maryland. I bought my plane ticket today! I'm flying into Milwaukee as it was about $60 cheaper than flying into Chicago. The rental cars appear to be cheaper through the Milwaukee airport too. Are you flying or driving? What hotel will you be staying?
I'm going to send you a private message as well.
I'm Raymond's Mom and we're from Alexandria VA. My son called and mentioned he had problems with the sit ups as well. Another I told you so moment about needing to get in better shape before he left. He passed the rest of the PT and liked the food.
There was another Mom from Maryland with a son in the same group. Your poor son with his wisdom teeth. ARG! I hope he is feeling better.
My son is in Ship 11 Div 155...I have gotten 3 letters from him so far...so glad to hear that he maybe calling today !!! Yayyy...
well its a quater ofter 8pm here....I havent slept in over 40 hrs....havent heard anything from my son :'(
I'm sorry Reed's Mom. My son said that Div 155 were scheduled to call today, but then you know that nothing is guaranteed. Maybe tomorrow. Keep reading the letters, they have much more info than the phone call. I think they sensor themselves with the phone call just in case anyone can hear them. I'll pray that you get a call soon Reed's Mom. Remember, no news is good news.
Proud Mom 628 - Congrats on the phone call! Hopefully we will all get calls soon! I got my 4 letters in 1 day and nothing since then! Fingers crossed!
Thanks, but I feel bad for the rest of the Moms still waiting. I know how I felt before I got the call so I'm praying that all the Moms get their calls soon. I've only received one envelope with three letters. I was thankful to receive those letters because they really tell the story of what is going on with my SR. He's tired as I am sure they all are exhausted. He is so determined to succeed. Like the other divisions, he did say that there are quite a few that won't stop talking and they are paying the price for that. Hopefully the talkers will learn and stop talking so that all the SR's can get the priviledge to call home.
My son said the same thing about talkers: "The main probelm with my Division is some guys don't know when or how to keep their mouths shut." Actually, I'm hoping they're paying the price by doing push-ups and sit-ups because my son failed those two areas in his first PT test.
Getting depressed...my son is not a talker, but he's a section leader in this div...so in his letter, he said that he pays the price also, as he's "responsible" for his section...guess the 'talkers' are keepin him from callin home. :,( I havent gottwn any more letters either, so Im upset...I really need to hear from my son....soon. :( I have been sittin, home, by all the phones all week...and nothing :,( worry...stress...sadness...overcome with all these and more.
Hi! Still no phone call from my son either! I got the 4 letters a week ago Friday and nothing since. My son also talked about the "talkers". He said that he got yelled at once for trying to help another recruit and got "caught" talking and has learned his lesson. He said it's supposed to be teamwork, but you can't talk! He also said that he and another SR are the Laundry PO's. They didn't get the laundry handed out the night before and it took too long in the morning and was facing some extra IT, He did say he thought they were all going to get to call soon - but nothing! Oh well, it's killing me - but I know he's there and eating well and they are taking care of him - if there was a problem I'd get a call that's for sure! So I'll just keep writing him and what happens happens - and I'll see him and give him the biggest hug of his life on May 18!
