Hi all,  I must say that I am glad to have spoken to my buddy after he wrote is "long" letter last Sunday which I received yesterday. Did that make sense?  He did mention the candy kisses being given out on Easter. Him being sick as he said 1/2 the divison is makes me sad as I wish I could care for him.  I know they are getting great care but.  He did say that alot of SR's were having their wisdom teeth removed, wow! Hope yu all have a great weekend. Patty

Glad you got your letter. Letters and a phone call sure does a mother's heart good!

I am glad to find you all too. Im new to this site. My son Michael is on ship 04, div 151. Nice to see all you fellow Moms. My son called on Wednesday. He was very homesick and teary. Was hard on my mama heart.

Hi everyone...My SR, Stephen, called on Wednesday but I did not get to talk to him, was stuck at work way longer than I thought, ended up missing the 15 minute phone call my daughter and husband got.  He sounded wonderful, says he's eating a lot of veggies (which is NOT his favorite though may be now!) and passing on the desserts.  He, apparently, is a section leader though not quite sure what that all entails.  He's adjusting well from what I'm being told!  He, too, is glad to be wearing the blue khaki uniforms with his name, says it now feels real!  I'm so proud of him, miss him, yet know he's exactly where he's supposed to be.  We also got a letter the next day, Thursday...a very heart-warming letter written all in capital letters says that's the "recruit handwriting!"  Love that young man!

My husband and I booked a flight from Denver into Milwaukee, Wisconsin and made reservations at the Courtyard by Marriott in Waukegan/Gurnee.  Does anyone know anything about a "meet and greet" to take place Thursday evening?  Which one are people attending?  Would love to meet all of you in person!

Take care...Inge (I changed my username from nursey79 to stephensmom.)

Hello everyone! Can you believe that we are about half way through? I finally made hotel reservations today and I'm getting so excited.  I decided on the Ramada and RSVP'd for the Meet and Greet that the hotel puts on for families on 5/17 from 6-8.  Can't wait!

Hi all!! Only 22 days and 17 hours until PIR! But who's counting? So excited because I got a letter from my son, Tommy, today! I sent him one of those Boot Camp Questionaires that I found on this site and it helped me get a lot of information. I asked him about new friends and he gave me a bunch of last names so the only name I recognized was Patty's son, because I know her last name through facebook. Some of the names he mentioned(I'll use intials) are: C.W. D.; J.N.D; and then he mentioned last names that start with T, A, O and N. Wish I knew first names. Sounds like they are learning to work as a team. Hopefully they'll have it down by the time Battlestations comes around. One thing I thought was funny was that Tommy said his RDC said when he sees me(or any of the other mom's) at PIR, he's gonna say "Your welcome. I raised your son more in 2 months than you did in 22 years" lol! Hope everyone is well!       Kathy :)

Oh That is too funny!  How wonderful to get a letter!  I'm hoping to get a reply back to the questionnaires I sent to my SR.  I can't wait to tell my husband about what the RDC says!  lol!

OMG just got a call from my SR. He received a 10 minute phone call for 5.0 inspections!! So excited, was not expecting to hear from him again so soon! I am still flying high! He said the division has 5 flags, they start week 5 tomorrow and they had fire arms training and will begin fire fighting training next week. Said everything is great, they can march without a RDC and do cadence (sing) when the march now! We all should be so proud of our SR's!!!!!!!! He told me the name but I totally forgot!

Thanks so much for letting us know about your call.  So great to hear about our SR's getting 5 flags.  That's awesome!   This week was week 4 and supposed to be hell week so they must have rocked it!  My SR had told me that they were doing well and might get another call soon.  So proud of all them!  Congrats to your SR on a 5.0 inspection!!

How wonderful to get an unexpected call! Glad they are doing well and congratulations on his 5.0 inspection!

Hello everyone...So much to say.  Got letters all grouped together today.  So great to hear from him.  He mentioned that he and his rackmate got 5.0 inspections so I'm wondering if his rackmate is VAmom's son?  Again, I missed his phone call this last time.  Hopefully, the next time, for sure!

Where are folks going for the meet and greet in Illinois?  We're wanting to go to the same one to meet everybody.  Oh my gosh, it'll be so exciting to see the guys and gals in their uniforms at PIR.

Kathy, Stephen says he knows Ryan, says he liked meeting someone from home. He says he wants boot camp to be done and move on to the next phase.  He's talking about wanting to go to Japan!!!!

Talk again, soon...Inge :)

Oh its good to hear that Ryan met up with someone from Colorado.  Did you join the colorado moms group?  We met for coffee this past Sat and it was so informative.  My letter today was dated the 17th and he was worried about all the test ahead of them for hell week.  But it sounds like from the phone call that they must have done ok as a division....and are now on to week 5.

We are not arriving in Chicago in time to make any of the meet and greets, sadly.  I still have a daughter in high school and she will be in finals on Thursday.  Missing finals on Friday so she doesnt want to miss the ones on Thursday.  Leaving DIA at 5:40 thursday eve.   We are staying at the Ramada.
