OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

What things do I need to bring to my SR for use after PIR?
Some ideas from the 'vet Moms:" Tennis shoes, cell phones/ ipods (and their chargers), boxers, socks, compression shorts and Superfeet, a couple of sets of workout clothes, one set of "civies" for Phase II liberty, sunglasses, watch, favorite "comfort" food (cookies, brownies for example)

teeny, Superfeet are a brand of insoles for their boots or sneakers. They absorb some of the impact. They are very popular and cost about $30(ish). We waited and took him out for them since there are a few different types, unless your son provides that information. It was like pulling teeth to get my son tell me what he needed, he has always been that way.
Since they have more free time at PreBuds, some of them like to have Xbox or Playstation and TVs in their room. My son said you can get some good deals from the guys leaving, since they cant take it with them and they don't want to be bothered shipping it home. Just a thought.

jde937 that is great information about civilian clothes that weekend. I can't imagine anyone knowing that, so thanks for passing it along.
Make sure you are back to base well before muster because they must be back in their building at that time. They have to walk from the gate.

I talked to Sarge today on my lunch hour, what a wonderful, wonderful resource he is!
I have a few pieces of information from him that might help.
The NATO Summit takes place in Chicago that weekend, so be sure to bring some civilian clothes for your sailor. He said they will not be required (not allowed??) to wear uniforms into Chicago that weekend for security reasons. Since our (813) sailors will be moving across the street to the regular base after PIR, we won't be able to take them with us after PIR, it will be afternoon before they can leave. The good thing is, dropping them off in the evening is a breeze at the other location. He also said they will be able to take cell phones and laptops back to base with them on Friday since they will not be staying at RTC. He will have lots more tips for us on Thursday at the Meet and Greet.
If you are planning on going to Sarge's meet and greet, be sure to let him know so he can plan the food etc. for the correct number of people.

I noticed that someone said they might go to 6 flags on Thurs. I just looked it up and they have an awesome roller coaster opening up on the 16th. WHoop whoop. I'm writing to see if my SR wants us to wait and go on the weekend. I think he will be too tired.
