I was just wondering about graduation gifts for our soon-to-be Sailors. Any thought or ideas?

Our son graduated April 13.  I bought him 7 pairs of boxers and had them monogrammed with his initials on the hem.  (He's a preppy kind of guy).  I almost had the seven days of the week monogrammed on them!

We also bought this:

http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=...

It is a device that all he has to do is plug it into a computer, slide his Navy ID card into it and the card "reads" that he is the one operating that computer.  According to the person from whom I got my information, it cuts down on having to type in his information each time he logs into a computer.  Plus that, he can insert his camera memory card and download pictures faster.  It was $20.

We got our son a very nice watch.. He has had his eye on a "Scuba/Dive" watch for over a year but it was a pretty penny and didn't want to spend it on himself so we did... Can't wait to see his reaction...  Bring on May 18th!!

Im getting him a watch and a navy coin and gonna have the navy coin engraved

@ ahays68 Thanks I was just wondering that...  I clicked on your link and was wondering if there is a coin that is for Basic Training that can be engraved... can you provide me the link for that...

Found it.. Thanks sooo much.

Thanks. I just ordered on from R t c. It looks like a nice gift idea.

Great question Tommy's Mom!
I bought my son an Olympus digital camera for his graduation in 2009.
He's been stationed in Japan and posts great photos on his Facebook page!

I decided to do the same for my Son that is graduating on 5.18.2012.

However, I am NOT bringing it with me. I will mail it to him in A school.

I had brought the gift wrapped camera box with me to my Son's PIR in 2009.
He was thrilled with it, said thanks, but take it home. I have no place to put it!!!

So, I just might order those RTC coins. One for each Son.
At least I'll have something to hand my Son at Graduation!

You all have some good ideas! Thanks for sharing!

I had a key chain engraved from the store Things Remembered... I got a key chain that is a set of dog tags... On 1 dog tag I had the official NAVY symbol engraved... When u flip that same tag over it reads: SR HIS NAME PIR 5-18-12... On the other dog tag it reads: With All My Love, I Am So Proud Of Your Accomplishment. Love MY NAME... Our 3 children did something special too... They built him a bear at BUILD-A-BEAR WORKSHOP... This bear is so flipping cute becuz he is dressed up in the NAVY Sailor outfit and hat and hold an American flag... The kids were so happy to make it for him... They love and miss him so much...

Great idea with the key chain. My son is looking to get a new computer as soon as he gets to A school. My husband and I talked last night and decided that we would give him some money towards the computer. He is so looking forward to be able to SKYPE with his friends and more so to watch his favorite baseball team play baseball. He tells me he can do this on the computer and he needs to get one pretty quickly :)  Right before he left, we bought him a new watch that was his birthday present. He sent that home in the box so I am sure we will be taking that to PIR with us.

No... But that is what he is now... So that's what it reads on his key chain...

My daughter will PIR on May 18th :) She loves to read...so we are getting her a kindle fire!
