Boot Camp Mom's Prayer
God bless my recruit as he meets this day
I pray that he has the strength to find his way
As reveley wakes him so loud and clear
I pray your love will lead him, and he will show no fear
If there's danger and if there's strife
Please send Angels to guard his life
Keep him safe and hold him near
Bless my recruit, I hold him dear
Until he moves on to PIR day
Bring peace to our hearts
And strength to our faith
(Many thanks to our own 'teeny' for sharing!)

I'm with ya on the quilt sisters! We all get a little piece of information.
myty my SR said he looked like a "goober" in his pictures! He ordered them anyway. Said he knew I'd want them and that was correct.
I was so excited to get that phone call, remember I missed the last one walking the dogs. After the call, I checked the mail box and there was his letter....the letter was almost a repeat of our phone conversation.
I'll add my info on private message.
myty sorry to hear about the pictures, your son can have them redone once he moves over and has free time. My son's eyes are half closed because he said it was early in the morning. He told me not buy them since was going have them done over. There were 2 poses, so I bought the best one any way.
Sickness seems to run a muck with the guys. Pink eye, sinus infections and even pneumonia. I know they are tough guys, but I can imagine it just makes it so much harder. I give them so much credit and admire their strength and will power to succeed.
That's nice to know about peppermint oil. I knew it was good for indigestion, but had never heard that about sore throats and colds. Bring it with you, but don't be disappointed if your son doesn't take it back with him. He may not be allowed to have it in his possession. My friend brought her son all sorts of OTC drugs for his cold and they were promptly dumped in the trashcan by the instructors.
You are exactly right, Bob'sMom. Better to hand off any OTC meds once they are at the airports or have returned from liberty on GL A School base. They are still under the control of "Medical" while at RTC as far as dispensing meds goes.
Thanks, Em, for the date!
Ladies it GATE PASS DAY!!! Go to http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp look under the families tab, then graduation. Our PIR has a red link that will take you to the parking pass webpage. Find the form letter that you received from your SR. On page three of the form letter is a password you'll need to access the PDF download.
I had to save the PDF before I could print.
Great Lakes here we come!
Thanks for that info (navyBlue). It also says that if SRs that are getting honors or awards the parents will be notified. I wonder when that would be. I am psyched for this countdown!!!!! I am so thankful for finding out about this site! It is a wealth of information and support.
Have a great day!
Nancy
Just in case anyone experienced the same thing as me when trying to save/print and running into problems.
I was able to print but could not save using Mozilla FireFox. Using Internet Explorer (IE) I could save but not print.
good morning ladies. one day closer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just think though ladies they may look like goobers in their pictures but its something that they can look back on a laugh at 10 years from now. lol
Teeny you are absolutely right. I didnt care that my son looked stoned. I bought it even though he said not too. I hang it proudly on my wall next to his brothers PIR picture and their grandfather. Its funny because all those pictures are in dress blues and have not changed a much in 70 years.
I thought you guys would like this:
I am an American Soldier.
I am a Warrior and a member of a team.
I serve the people of the United States, and live the Navy Values.
I will always place the mission first.
I will never accept defeat.
I will never quit.
I will never leave a fallen comrade.
I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills.
I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself.
I am an expert and I am a professional.
I stand ready to deploy, engage, and desroy the enemies of the United States of America in close combar.
I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life.
I am an American Soldier.
Wow Teeny what a terrific poem! Very moving! On another note my Sr pretty much said the same thing about his photo (it's all memories of what he really looked like in BC). I'll see how bad they really are.
Navy Blue thanks for the reminder.
