When I talked to him a while back he said something about flying out early Saturday morning and that he would have to stay at the airport overnight to wait for his flight and said he wanted me to wait there with him... That was like 2 weeks ago when he told me that so I am sure it may have changed a lot! I was hoping he would get the weekend to spend with us up there but I will be happy just to see him for a couple hours if thats all I get :)

And yes, momofanuke... I am sure if he is that interested in it he has seen them! I was in the Exumas in  April and now I am volunteering for some educational charters on Andros! It really is the most beautiful place on Earth (that I have seen)! I sent a lot of pictures from all my snorkels and stuff related to that!

I am jealous of all the time you get to spend in the beautiful waters.  The only water we have is snake and alligator infested swamps. Yuk!

Most of the time they go to the airport in groups at about 2am and they have to hang out there until their flights...some of which could even be in the afternoon.  According to the websites for O'Hare and Midway if we go to the ticketing counter with them and we have ID, then they can give us a pass to go up to the gate area with them so that we can spend all the time with them that we can.  At that time we can give them their cell phones, laptops etc.  My son has requested phone, laptop and contacts.

I look forward to meeting you at Sarge's.

That would be awesome! I would be more than happy to sit all night with him at the airport if I am allowed! I hear you on the snake and alligators, I live in SWFL!! Haha We also have vicious otters and panthers to contend with!

I'm sure that my son has asked to see the pictures.  He is a SCUBA diver and will look at any pictures of beautiful blue water, while dreaming about what he would see if he was there.  I was in the Bahamas in March, the water is beyond beautiful.  I'm sure my son is jealous, the only pictures that I have sent him were of the dogs.

Since my son is a Nuke, I really expected some calls for security clearance...but none yet.  Either he knows the information without having to call me or he had fewer problems since dad and I were prior military with clearances.  I am happy that the clearance part seems to be going easier for him, but I would have loved to hear his voice for just a second while calling for info.

I have a son there :)  Ship 11 Div 168  Anxious for June 1st!

Hello all. Thanks to my son's girlfriend I found this site.  Wish I had found it weeks ago, it would have helped out alot.  Hoping that I somehow get a phone call today, haven't had any :( . I got a Mother's Day letter a day late but loved it!  Feeling alittle left out of the loop but I know he has alot of things on his plate.  Can't wait for PIR!  Not sure who will cry more... Katlin (girlfriend) or Me.

Dylansmom- Welcome to our site we are glad to have you and I am sorry you were not aware of out site sooner. We have a great bunch of moms/girlfriends etc on our site and it sounds like we also have raised a outstanding bunch of kids as well in division 168.

Is your sons girlfriend that same Katlin that is already a member of our site and your son is going to be going to Pensacola to study to be a CTT if so then your son and my son will be go to Pensacola together and both studying to be CTT's

Welcome aboard-- Janet

Yes, she is the same Katlin :)  My name is Cindy.  Cool, glad to know we have our sons in common going to CTT!

Bless you dylansmom!  I identify with your feelings!  I am so glad you found this group.  It has been where I go every day to hear news; if I don't hear from my own son, I can hear "news" through the other recruits' letters home.  It's been a real comfort when I feel out of the loop.  Keep picturing him learning, working, growing, and missing you more than he thought he would.  Keep writing him every day!  He needs it!  Love that you and Katlin can share the experience.  Hang in there!

Thank you!  I keep checking back here for updates from all of you.  Try to keep up with Katlin when she has wifi.  It does help ALOT when I hear that other sons are saying good things about their division!  11 days!  My silly son forgot to write down all his phone numbers!  I will keep checking back for updates!  Again, huge thanks from a Mom in Missouri. HUGE HUGS!

I got another letter from my son yesterday.  He said the whole group is excited about the upcoming Battlestations event. He and the rest of the div can't wait to call us after Battlestations with the "I'm a Sailor" call, I think they are as anxious as we are. He finally mentioned some of the guys that he is friends with...sounds to me like he is friends with the whole group!  Seems like he has something in common with most of the guys; either video games, cars or other interests.   His bunkmate and he have a good bond, he helps the bunkmate study and the bunkmate helps him with the hospital corners on the bunk. He also mentioned that time is moving a lot quicker for them now and that they got to go and get their portraits done on Tuesday, he said it took a big chunk of the day at the photographers stuido. He closed by saying.."for the most part we all get along and we pull together...best of all we've got each others backs.  I guess you could call us a family, but it's more than that"  That statement did my heart a world of good, and I hope it does the same for all of you.  PIR is coming up quick, see you all soon.
