OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Where are all of the good bases at? :)
So I was just curious as to what base everyone lives on and how they like it? My husband will be filling out his dream sheet soon (and I know they send you wherever your most needed at) but where in everyones opinion is a good base to move to? I would love to hear from the people that live internationally as well even though I know that during his first term we won't be able to go overseas.

That all depends on how you define a "good base". And what rate he is will be a factor, if he's in aviation, he won't be going to a sub base, and so on. There's more than one way to fill out a dream sheet, but without knowing what rate he is, it is difficult to make suggestions.
I like everywhere I was stationed, except TN and GA and FL, because I hate the humidity and dislike the areas. I like anything in California. But that's pure personal preference, nothing to do with the bases. I was in Japan for two tours and loved it, while others hate the place. What do you think you would like in a place to live for a few years? Lots to do? Jobs? Schools?
Why do you say he can't go overseas? He might not be able to take a dependent overseas, but don't think for a minute he can't be sent unaccompanied. It isn't usual, and the detailers try to avoid doing that, but it can and does happen.

I was told he couldn't go overseas in his first term because he is married. I didn't know that they could go unaccompanied. But we will cross that bridge if it ever comes.
When I say good base I just want everyone opinion on what the best and worst base they've ever lived on and why. So I can get an idea of where we would like to be based on what everyone says.
Anyways he is an AM. I would prefer to get out of the South because we live in Fl and we both hate the humidity. We would like to go somewhere different up North maybe? I was asking this question to really just get everyone expirences about bases you all have lived on. The main thing I'm looking for when we move is a place with beautiful weather (not as much humidity as FL with snow during Winter and leaves that change color!) I'm not really sure about anything else. I will get a part time job and finish my degree as a therapist or child life specialist. (Haven't decided which one yet)

Wow,that's a loaded question!!! There are things to like and/or dislike wherever you live. My son (sailor) and DIL were in Goose Creek, just outside of Charleston SC, for almost 2 years and loved it there. They liked the food, the atmosphere, the activities, the beaches. HATED the humidity (and they are southern kids), she was terrified of the thought of a hurricane but overall they loved it. NOW they are in Bremerton WA, a full 3000 miles from where they started. It's much much cooler, no body surfing, no southern style regional food, but so far they love it. They love the outdoors, they've been in to Seattle by ferry a few times. They like walking in the woods, seeing the sights. His first choice on his "dream sheet" was San Diego, then Bremerton, then Norfolk, obviously he got the 2nd choice and is quite happy with it.

I love Washington! That would be a wonderful place to live at. I've traveled around but never stayed in a place longer than 3 months away from FL. Two of my favorite places that I've visited has been Virginia and Washington. I've never really been on the West coast but would love to give that a shot to. Thanks for your input I will be keeping that in mind. I had no idea the Navy had bases in some of these places..it shows how uneducated I am. :)

My son was stuck in Norfolk twice .. He hated it. Other love it. Just depends on what you make of them

My son couldn't get out of Charleston, SC fast enough. He loved NY & Hawaii.

Oh Hawaii is definitly #1! That would be amazing. I doubt will be sent there (because it seems to good to be true) but I can always hope. My husband has always wanted to live in New York. I'm not sure about a busy city though. What city in New York is the Navy base at?

Hawaii is considered overseas, so unless he is an E-4 or above, it isn't likely he'd get accompanied orders there. Maybe next time.
New York? Navy doesn't have much there. Again, what's his rate?

Got a young friend in Hawaii right now and she's not happy at all!!! Says it's beautiful but sooo expensive. Of course, I have a Marine and his wife on Okinawa and they are happy there.
a1beachbug - when Anti M asked you his "rate", what will his job be when he finishes boot camp and A school? A lot of where he ends up will depend on his job and whether he is submarine or surface. Mine is a Nuke and was in Charleston, now Bremerton and some of the Nukes go to Ballston Spa in New York for a few months for training.

his rate is AM Aviation mechanic. I thought when people asked for his rate they wanted the Acronym of what he's going into? Gosh I thought I was getting better with all of the military lingo but apparently NO! lol

He started out as E-1 but passed his PFA and is now an E-2. If that makes a difference?
