For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hi Moms,
I'm new to this website and am so glad to be here. My son got to Great Lakes last night and called me about 12:30 am. He sounded shell shocked. I am missing him so much, but I know he is in good hands. I look forward to participating here and getting to know some other moms who are in the same boat. I have a question. When can we send letters and is there an address to send letters to? Oh, this is going to be hard.

My son got there on May 15 as well. I am missing him pretty badly tonight... it is comforting to see another mom say there son is there too at the same time.

Hang in there Mom, Yes it will be hard, but you will make it. The first week is the hardest. My son is in his 5th week PIR June 8th.
He said the first 40hours they did not sleep. Their first week they are in processing. Then they get assigned a Ship/Division.
As far as Mail goes. First you will get "The Box". Basically you get your sons clothes, etc. whatever he left with back, except your son. :( Very sad time. I cried when I got the Box.
Then about a week later, you will get a form letter with his address. Ship/Divison and address where to write to him. Heads up, Dont send Musical cards. One recruit in my sons division recieved one from his mother, and had to sing and dance to it in front of entire squad. :( Plain White envelopes, do not write cute sayings on the outside. You can send and it helps to send him funny photos of home. Their RDC looks at all mail/photos before your son get his mail.
Always remember when you talk to him, keep it happy, your son needs to hear encouraging and happy things, Its hard but dont cry, that will cause him to possibly get upset, and get yelled at for it.
Your son is strong, and be proud of him. He knew basic was going to be hard, and chose to do it anyway. That right there tells us how strong he is. And there is nothing more rewarding, or proud of that to know you are Serving your Country, and protecting us all.
He will be ok. Hang in there Mom, Hope this was helpful.

I am new to this website. My son left on Tuesday, for Great Lakes. I can't stop thinking about him. It's very hard not being able to communicate with him. I have looked at some of the videos of what bootcamp is like, and it makes me feel worse! I guess it's a Mom thing. All I know is that I can't wait to receive a letter and to see him in July!

My son also left a couple of days ago! It is going to be hard contact his recruiter, he can give you the address. Also you will be receiving the box soon

My son just got there tonight so I know how you feel. My sons recruiter said he would have my sons address for me 2 days after he leaves and we can start writing right away, so try your sons recruiter. Hope this helps you

Did you all receive the address letter in the first week from Great Lakes? My son started on 6/5

I recieved the box in about 4 days then i recieved the form letter a few days after so yes it is about a week but i think it varies. you should contact his recruiter and he can give you the address so you can start writing
