We have a division!!! Yay, I am super excited to get to know you all that have our SR's in the same division!
Please introduce yourselves! (no last names :)
I am Sharon. My daughter Erin is 21 and she came to bootcamp from Iowa. I live by myself, work as a dog groomer and I have a broken toe. I miss Erin so much but things are looking up! Got her form letter today. Got an 'I love you :) " on the back! I am so glad to know that Erin isn't alone. She is digging deep and working hard every day, and has your loved ones to help each other, learn from each other, and they are together in missing us like crazy too. And being a veteran, I know, their days are getting better each day too.
Next up.. our phone calls!! Next week? If not for sure the week after!. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Please friend me if ya want!

missingmysam.. i am still trying to connect with you. I sent another friend request...
Ok, totally unrelated. I know you are all chomping at the bit to hear an update about my toe!! :) Really! I knew you were wondering. I saw the doctor for my follow up today. (Erin called half way through the appointment, I kindly told the doctor to hold please) Anyways, he is looking at the xrays and says.. you didn't just break your toe.. you BUSTED it! He isn't surprised I am still having the pain and swelling I am.. but assures me that this too shall pass. I think he has been in cahoots with my mom.. she tells me the same thing.
Thanks for humoring me. I cracked myself up! LOL
Just checked my mail. It is Monday. No big deal. Was I ever shocked to see an envelope from Erin! Seems they got mandatory letter writing time last Thursday.. check your mailboxes!!
I so hope you all get a version of the letter I got.. They had just watched some you tube videos. Amazing letter. More than proud.
Urg... I was going to go to my parents after work, but decided I had to come home and get my letter first. No letter.... Boy, it would have been a great way to start the week too. Ok Sharon, now you have to share more info from your letter. :)
Ya so mandatory letter writing... I wonder what that even means, did you daughter explain it? Maybe they did it so that everyone had a chance to write home?
Erins letter, dated Thurs 6/14/12
"Momma, In an interesting twist of fate, it's mandatory letter writing time on a not-Sunday in bootcamp. Whaaat??
You know how you said I'd learn the pride in my country in bootcamp? We just watched two youtube videos: 9/11 amazing grace and 9/11 it's been 10 years Daddy.
Everyone is a crying mess. The RDC said that is what happens when someone doesn't do their job correctly, and he also began passing around a folded American flag and told us to really think about why we're here. Are we willing to give our lives for our country? Because someday, we might be called to. It was...an earth shattering reality. You don't want to think about it much, or hope it isn't you...
You and I were always so optimistic about my safety, but I truly did/do need to grasp that concept of being ready to give my life. This letter sounds solemn and awful because we have only a short time to write, but I hope this concept is another reason you're proud of me. It's meant to be a good thing, a growing thing. I love you so much. We'll see what the future holds!"
I hope she doesn't get upset I shared that.
That is so touching! She is a great writer. It is so true and so sad at the same time. So proud of everyone at bootcamp esp SHIP 3 DIV 217!!!!!
We got our Thursday, June 14 letter today! He had a great meeting with the classifier so he was excited and opitimistic. Keep our SRs in your thoughts and prayers this week, though...INSPECTIONS!
Hey Division 217.... how is everyone? 21 days and we are off to PIR!! How is everyone's SR doing? Getting letters? It's been so quiet here lately.. we need to get things going!! I miss you guys!
I got that one letter on Monday but didn't get one yesterday.
Hope you all have a great day.
