For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Badge
hold status and CS hours
does anyone know if they are on hold to "class up" if they wait in VA or in GL? also how long is A school?some mom referred to Long hours? what exactly are the hours/duties? I was told by one person that the CS does not participate in the morning physical training but instead is preparring the breakfasts. the recruiter denied this. I am realizing that many things are uncertain.

thanks Nancy. I think I should learn early just to go with the flow right! And if he gets to spend some time in GL (since we live close) we will all be nicely suprised.

Our Sailor was on hold at the school for a week, he had a different journey though. Has was also held a bit after graduation due to a hurricane. School was about 6-7 weeks if I remember correctly, then they get their orders for duty station. Once in the fleet, they work long hours. It is not uncommon to work 12-15 hr days, everyone has to learn to work together and get the job done. They are together for long periods of time. As far as PT goes, don't think they do it as often as they have been, wait and see on that one. Wishing your Sailor all the best!!
